Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign TE Zack Pianalto, round out practice squad, cut D.J. Johnson, George Johnson

Stay connected for news and updates

Having signed four players to their practice squad earlier today, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now added another four players. T Will Barker, TE Collin Franlkin, RB Mossis Madu and LB Derrell Smith were signed to the practice squad, per Stephen Holder. With that, every practice squad player was on the Bucs' preseason roster.

In addition, the Bucs claimed tight end Zack Pianalto off waivers per his agent Brian Ayrault. The North Carolina product spent the preseason with the Buffalo Bills, but didn't stick. He caught six passes for 59 yards during the preseason. He is supposed to be an all-around but limited tight end. The Bucs have three tight ends on their roster now, two of whom are rookies.

To make room for Pianalto and linebacker Zac Diles, the Bucs cut DE George Johnson and CB D.J. Johnson. I expect the Bucs to try to sign both those players to their practice squad, if they clear waivers.
