Tampa Bay Buccaneers Roster Cuts: Vince Anderson, Brandon Gilbeaux, Detron Lewis, Robert Malone, Rendrick Taylor
The Buccaneers have added another five roster cuts to the earlier list. S Vince Anderson, DE Brandon Gilbeaux, WR Detron Lewis, P Robert Malone and FB Rendrick Taylor. The other five names that came out earlier were WR Aundrae Allison, G Brandon Carter, TE Collin Franklin, WR Jock Sanders and CB Ashton Youboty.
With these cuts the roster is now down to 80 players, which is the number the Bucs had to be down to before tomorrow 4 P.M. This doesn't mean the Bucs are done yet, though, as the team is likely to pick up a couple of players off waivers, which would lead to more cuts.
Of the players cut today, only Aundrae Allison, Robert Malone and Ashton Youboty are ineligible for the practice squad.
Second-year guard Brandon Carter was listed as waived/injured instead of cut, which means he could be placed on injured reserve if he passes through waivers.

What, if any, waiver additions do you see the bucs pursuing?

I have no idea
They’ll probably bring in some undrafted free agents they targeted earlier, but I have no idea who that could be.
DAL just cut C Andre Gurode
who has 5 Pro Bowls to his credit.

There's a reason they cut Andre Gurode

I would definitely guess Salary Cap...
and could always re-sign with them.

Probaby more upside with Faine anyway.
If Faine played in Dallas, he’d probably have 5 pro-bowls too. I hate fan voting.
I'm not negative, I'm just telling you how it is.
As it turns out...
a training camp injury has limited his time on the field, and the salary combined with strong play from another player, made Gurode expendable.

I think Ahmad Black becomes roster squad

I don't think he loses out to Lynch.
Lynch has not had a particularly great preseason. Asante is versatile enough to play both S positions as is Grimm. I wouldn’t say Black has had a great preseason/camp but he is a rookie and is viewed more as a project than is Lynch.

Whats up with Lynch's crazy hitting style?
Sometimes he kneels real quick for a non-knee killing low tackle.. its pretty unique

I haven't seen Lynch much this preseason
But I think Morris has talked him up a couple times. Problem is, Black hasn’t had the opportunity to show anything.
Not sure it matters.
You know what you have in Lynch, which is at best an OK emergency option. Black has some upside and potential. I doubt Morris gets rid of that.
Out of all of the Bucs draft picks since Morris has been here, only 3 have been cut. 1 was a punter, 1 was mostly due to injury (Fulton) and ONLY 1 has been due to a lack of talent (Lorig).

Well, Bowden was due to a lack of talent
but shouldn’t have been drafted in the first place.

Lynch is very valuable on special teams, though
That certainly gives him a leg up.
The problem I have with Black is that his positions are kind of full already. With Grimm and Jones the Bucs have two solid starting safeties, the Bucs like Asante and Lynch is at least capable of starting in a pinch. And as a slotback the Bucs have Ronde and Gaitor, who has shown plenty this preseason. I don’t see how you keep Black in terms of numbers.
I don't think you keep Lynch.
Asante is versatile enough to back up both Grimm and Jones. You don’t need a 4th body ‘capable of starting in a pinch.’ By then, TJack is back.
If Lynch’s value comes completely on special teams, why do you get rid of a safety who hasn’t had any time to develop into his potential?
Do you risk letting a guy from a major BCS contender, 2nd team All-American, 5th round pick hit the open market to get him on your practice squad? I doubt he would clear the waiver wire.

Actually, yes, that's exactly what you're supposed to do with 5th rounders...
The only reason we kept so many last year and the year before was because we didn’t have any depth on our team. Having this kind of problem is a good thing – it means our roster is deeper and better.
Still waiting for the day that the NFL comes back to LA...
That's a risk you always take if you let someone go
Black was a great college player, but he hasn’t shown anything in the NFL. He fell to the fifth round, and if the Bucs hadn’t picked him up there he might have fallen farther. And missing all of preseason with an injury will not have increased a team’s interest in him.
Anyway, that risk is there, but losing Black is not the end of the world. At best he is a subpackage player right now, and I don’t even see any way right now he gets on the field in those roles now anyway. I just don’t see how the Bucs lose out on a tremendously valuable player if he gets picked up. They lose out on a role player who has shown nothing so far.
Due to an injury.
I don’t think Black is incapable of doing anything that Lynch does. A million guys can play ST. Especially with this new kickoff rule. Quincy Black has been outstanding on punts.
I just think the payoff is worth losing a ST player on.

What's up nation!?
Hey sander, I’m a newbie to the posting world but longtime follower..what’s the status on talib? Is he gonna be 100%? Honestly Biggers isn’t the best but he’s not the worst..he didn’t look as bad as Quincy getting punked by Marshall on the TD
