Tyrone McKenzie sounds a tad bitter.
I didn’t know he asked New England for his release when it became evident he wouldn’t be competing for a starting spot. Now he says he won’t do the same thing with the Bucs. Well he’d better not. That’s a quick way to flunk out of the NFL.
That starting spot wasn’t his to begin with, so he needs to stop complaining and take the job from Foster if he wants it.
I know at the end of the article he’s quoted as saying he just has to keep working hard and yada yada yada, but he was pouting when he said the coaches told him it wasn’t a competition and Foster already had the job after the second practice. Not to mention, Raheem says that never happened.
He wasn't just not competing for a starting job in New England
He was on the practice squad at the time. I don’t think the situation is comparable.
I didn’t hear him complain, though.
Well it's all right there in the article about McKenzie.
He asked for his release from New England when he realized he would be on the practice squad. I’m not saying the situation is directly comparable but that action combined with this new quote points to an attitude of entitlement like MLB was his job to lose.
And we can go back and forth on whether it’s “complaining” but it definitely sounded like a shot at the coaches when he said he’s just doing what he can to help the team after they told him “it wasn’t a competition after the second practice.”
Raheem even said if he has that attitude about it, he won’t win the job, and that he needs to earn his spot like everyone else.
I like McKenzie and I’m not saying anything other than he just sounds like he’s a bit bitter about not winning the spot outright.
I know that's what it says, but it's only half right
McKenzie was on the practice squad at the time, and hence wasn’t even a backup with the Patriots. He asked to be released from the practice squad because of that, not from the roster. He was put on the practice squad on 9/7 and released from the practice squad on 11/6 so he could sign with the Bucs’ practice squad instead.
He does sound a little bitter, but I think he’s also half right. If this competition is anywhere near close, Foster will (and has) won the job.
So it looks like it's official.
“Young-ry” is this year’s “Race to 10”
Not sure how I feel about that. I liked the measurable goal.

Can I set the Over/Under for how many games Brian Price plays at 2?
I’ll take the under.
Formerly UNFNole
Does anyone else view it as almost a slam against Talib
that evidently the media thinks the signing of Youboty is “insurance” incase Talib can’t play? To me it is almost like the 2 players are being compared as if they were remotely comprable. Is the media blind to Talib’s talent? Or am I taking this wrong?
The two players aren't being compared.
Yobuty will compete with Mack, Gaitor, and Lewis for a roster spot. If Talib can’t play the corners all get bumped up a notch, but Yobuty wouldn’t take Talib’s spot.
Right, I know what would happen, I was just saying to me the media kind of makes it sound
like he was signed to replace Talib if Talib is suspended. I know that is far from the case & it is dumb to think he would be able to take over for Talib.

Anybody else concerned that the Bucs may have tried to rush Price?
And perhaps one of the best things to come out of camp is the emergence of Okam if for no other reason than to give the team more confidence in it’s D line?
by jMagic09 on Aug 16, 2011 7:19 PM EDT via mobile reply actions
Okam will be a good backup
Don’t know if I want him starting though.
As for Price, it seems pretty likely that they were bringing him back too quickly, but they have a lot of very highly qualified medical personnel to get this stuff right.
