Bucs Training Camp Notes - Luke Stocker out for at least one week
The Bucs held another open training today, with plenty of people in attendance. The biggest news of today was that Luke Stocker was on crutches. He has a right hip strain which will keep him out for at least one week, so notes Pewter Report. Roy Cummings says that Stocker is taking it "a week at a time", which means that one week would be very optimistic. This will hurt him going into the season, as any practice time now is very valuable for rookies. At the same time, if he is ready to practice after a week he should be able to get up to speed relatively quickly. Any longer and chances of him having an early impact strongly diminish.
All of the notes:
- Luke Stocker has a right hip strain which will keep him out for at least one week, according to Pewter Report. He was on crutches on the field. There's your first training camp injury.
- Legarrette Blount was working on his pass-catching, catching balls from the JUGS machine. If he can improve his pass-catching and his feel for coverages, he can be a weapon on passing downs. Blount also looks to be in tremendous shape. As I've said before, if he learns this offense and understands how to run the ball in the NFL, he can be so much better than he was last season.
- Oklahoma RB Mossis Madu has Kareem Huggins #32. Hardly a surprise: Huggins isn't even under contract. His knee injury was really bad, and it's very unlikely he'll ever make it to the NFL again because of that.
- Kellen Winslow has continued to look absolutely dominant in practice by all accounts. Everyone at practice mentioned this.
- Luke Stocker was on crutches after looking great yesterday. Uh-oh.
- First team defensive line was Clayborn-McCoy-Miller-Bowers.
- Ed Gant's name keeps popping up as a wide receiver who's flashing in camp. He was on the practice squad last season.
- According to Pewter Report, Cody Grimm looks slow. Grimm isn't the fastest player, and he may not fully trust his leg yet.
- Another player who gets named as dominant a couple of times is Gerald McCoy. Expecting big things out of the man.

Man, hearing all this training camp news has me so pumped.
I cannot wait for Football to begin.
If Grimm isn't ready...
and T-Jack isn’t reliable, then who do we like as the starter?
Asante will get a shot
Black has an outside chance too. And Corey Lynch, of course.
I wouldn’t worry too much about Grimm not looking fresh yet. Only second day of practice.
That and he didn't have the bucs high paid staff to help him during the off season
Also, even if he trusted the doctors he hired to help him rehab, if it made it worse during the lockout, that technically could have cost him. Same deal with Brian Price and Arellious Benn.

Eh, doubt that has anything to do with it
Plenty of competent doctors in the nation. Besides, it was a leg break. Nothing too difficult about that.
Too bad about Kareem Huggins.
And let’s hope Stocker’s hip strain doesn’t turn into an Evan Longoria situation. He had a strained oblique and missed a hell of a lot of time.
Strains don’t sound serious but sometimes it’s those little nagging injuries that keep guys on the shelf, and hamper them even when they’re well enough to participate.
And like you said, it’s not necessarily the injury that’s worrisome, it’s the missed time on the field getting used to the pace of the NFL and the team’s playbook.
The mistake Longoria mad
was pushing it and trying to go too soon, which hopefully Stocker’s will fully heal, and he won’t agitate it.
We want the ball, and we're gonna score!
Philly just signed Cullen Jenkins for 5 / 25M
How in the heck do they have the cap room for all of these players they’re signing? Are they gonna be in cap hell in two years or what? I hope they leave themselves no room to re-sign Jackson and he holds out all year

They supposedly think they are gonna get cap room by getting Vick to rework his deal.
His cap number is 16M because he was franchised.

Eagles making a push for a championship while Vick can still play
With the beating that guy takes, they had better hurry up
You know what's funny.
I cannot remember the last time I actually enjoyed watching the HC press conferences. Raheem’s are so entertaining to watch. Probably has to be one of the best HC to have if you are a media person. He gives some of the best quotes.
Today’s quote calling Daquan Bowers stance the “Crouching Tiger Stance”
Anyone hear anything about Desmond Briscoe yet?
Is he at camp participating?
I get that they havent played a real down together
But if Price can get his fat butt in shape, that DL has me salivating over the next 5-7 years. Bowers, Clayborn, McCoy, Price. Yes please
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
Hate hearing about the injuries to the rookies
All that work to earn their chance and out with an injury. I feel bad for them.
@ Sander- Do the 'phins run the wildcat because they don't have a strong OL?
I focus on money my hands touch
If that right there don’t add up
I gotta let you know your math sucks
You don’t ever talk to a calculator
You don’t get caught with an ounce of paper
Every convo is about a favour
