Daily Bucs Links 7/25/11 - Free Agency could start Tuesday, but will the Bucs spend?

2011 NFL lockout -- Owners, players come to deal on all points, sources say - ESPN
It seems the owners and players have finally reached a deal, on all points, and the players will vote it through on Monday. One timeline had the league year and free agency opening on Saturday.

NFL.com news: Owners, players down to details in finalizing labor agreement
Of course, there are always some details left.

Latest Brees e-mail suggests full free agency could start Tuesday | ProFootballTalk
Drew Brees, on the other, suggests that full free agency could start as early as tomorrow. Now that would be interesting.

Another bad break for undrafted players | ProFootballTalk
Undrafted players will have their signing bonuses limited. So there won't be a lot of outbidding teams for undrafted free agents, although this is only relevant for a small portion of players.

Don't expect Bucs spending spree | TBO.com
Another day, another article on what the Bucs won't do: spend. At this point I'd almost start to think Dominik was throwing up a smoke screen.

The Shutdown Corner Podcast: NFL Films’ Greg Cosell - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Doug Farrar interviews Greg Cosell on free agents. Absolutely worth a listen, as Cosell's personnel analysis is second to none.

'Hard Knocks' falls through the cracks this summer | National Football Post
There will be no Hard Knocks this season. Such a shame, I always enjoy that show.

NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post
In this edition of the Sunday Blitz, Nnamdi Asomugha gets some criticism heaped on him. Basically, they think he's a good player, but a cornerback isn't worth the kind of money he demands, because you can simply throw away from him. I don't agree with that logic, though.

NFL preseason, when it begins, could look ragged | TBO.com
Without much practice time, of course preseason will look ragged.

[Video] Which NFL Team Will Dominate In 2014-16? - ESPN Video - ESPN
Here's a video of some ESPN bloggers discussing which team will dominate from 2014 to 2016. The Bucs get a nod.

Nnamdi Asomugha headlines 2011 free-agent class - ESPN
John Clayton goes over the top free agents. Now, Clayton tends to be off base a little too often so don't put too much stock into it, but he lists the Bucs and Texans as the top suitors for Nnamdi Asomugha.

The best undrafted players — Offense - Shutdown Corner - NFL Blog - Yahoo! Sports
Doug Farrar gives us a list of the best undrafted free agents on offense. Ricardo Lockette would be the most intriguing player for the Bucs: a ton of potential, but very little skill at this point.

New CBA sets up eventual 18-game stare down | ProFootballTalk
The new CBA will give the NFL the right to slash the preseason in half at any point, which they could use to help get an 18-game season at some point. The NFLPA has to sign off on any expansion of the season, but not on the slashing of preseason.

JoeBucsFan.com | Stovall Talks Lockout - Tampa Bay Bucs Football
JoeBucsFan briefly interviewed Maurice Stovall, a player representative, on the lockout at a charity fundraiser. Stovall mentions nothing new on the lockout, though.

Why the UFL tapped the brakes | National Football Post
The UFL planned to start the season early to take advantage of the lockout, but now that the NFL seems to be missing no games, the UFL is delaying the start of its season until September. Which doesn't make much sense to me: why not make this a summer league instead of directly competing with the NFL? But a lot of things that league does does not make sense to  me: it feels like a doomed initiative. They did bring up the idea of being a developmental league for the NFL, though, and that would be interesting.

Progress made in NFL lockout, but Goodell, Smith must seal deal - Chicago Sun-Times
Goodell and Smith have apparently gotten a lot of work done to seal this deal. They had better: It's their job.

Another job praising DeMaurice Smith's leadership.

PR Predicts: DT Frank Okam | Pewter Report
Pewter Report sees Frank Okam returning to the Bucs. Given the fact that he's a restricted free agent who got offered a tender, that seems exceedingly likely indeed.

A Flurry of Activity Coming For Bucs | Pewter Report
According to Pewter Report, the Bucs will be very busy.
