Daily Bucs Links 6/17/11 - Talib's Case Not Going To Trial For Now, Bucs Take Up "Climb Aboard" Motto
Bucs Invite Fans to "Climb Aboard!" in 2011 | Buccaneers.com
The official theme of the 2011 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: "Climb Aboard". It seems the Bucs are inviting everyone to jump on the bandwagon. They were probably inspired by the Lightning's "All-In" campaign in taking up this motto.
Talib's case rolls on with no resolution or trial date | tampabay.com & St. Petersburg Times
It seems Aqib Talib's attorney is still working on a deal. Striking such a deal would likely keep Talib out of prison, although Talib could still be suspended by the NFL.
Looking at NFC South assistants on rise - NFC South Blog - ESPN
Pat Yasinskas names Greg Olson as an up-and-coming coach. I can't disagree with that, as Olson created a very productive offense with limited tools in his first full year as coordinator.
Not All-In Yet | Buccaneers.com
The Bucs' website offers some fantasy advice on Bucs players.
JoeBucsFan.com | Could Bucs Defensive Line Surpass Lions’? - Tampa Bay Bucs Football
Seems Peter King thinks they can, but that the Lions line is at another level right now. I'd agree with them in principle, as the Lions' line has produced much more. But I must also note that Nick Fairley's impact won't be great early on. He was incredibly raw in college, and lacked any semblance of technique or hand use.
2010 Pass Blocking Efficiency: Tight Ends | ProFootballFocus.com
John Gilmore was the 7th best pass-blocking TE in the NFL last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Not that it matters much, the Bucs don't keep in tight ends to block except on very rare occasions and play action, where they're often asked to release quickly.
Bucs Interested In Haynesworth - NFL - Yahoo! Sports - H/t JoeBucsFan
In this big ol' piece, Michael Silver drops the note that the Bucs could be in the market for Albert Haynesworth. I don't see that happening, at all. The Bucs have adopted a build-through-the-draft mentality, they've already loaded up on talented young defensive tackles and Haynesworth hasn't exactly become an intriguing player these past two seasons. Trying to attract Haynesworth would go against everything the Bucs seem to stand for.
JoeBucsFan.com | Barrett Ruud And Brian Urlacher - Tampa Bay Bucs Football
JoeBucsFan transcribes some Rich Gannon thoughts on Barrett Ruud. Gannon seems to think Ruud is extremely valuable mostly because he makes all the calls. So he does, but other people can learn to do so as well.
[Video]Answer Man, 6/16/11 | Buccaneers.com
In this video, the Bucs answer some questions regarding fumbles on Extra Points, the player numbers of rookies (no numbers have been decided on yet, except for Clayborn's #94) and late scores by the Bucs. The latest score ever turns out to be Matt Bryant's record-breaking 62-yard field goal with seconds remaining in overtime.

With all of his boorish behavior...
he is still a terror as a 4-3 DT. I don’t like the way he has been acting in WAS, but I am convinced it was all an ill-conceived plan to get cut or traded by WAS. His old DL coach in TEN (who’s now in PHI) Jim Washburn is making a huge push to obtain him, and he probably knows him better than anybody.
With the injury to Price not completely healed…?

He's wasted 2 years simply trying to get out of a bad situation, then
I don’t want someone who will do that on my team. Besides, I really don’t see the need at this point. We already have two supremely talented players at DT, and Haynesworth has been inconsistent at best his entire career, except for exactly one season.
No way do I want him
With a young team like ours and his behavior he is about the worst possible person you could add to the team IMO.
The Ruud story is more interesting to me.
I keep going over the linebacker scenarios. I just don’t see how they can keep both Ruud and Black. I think Raheem really like black and not Ruud. Ruud won’t resign unless he is given a long term commitment. But if you lose Ruud who starts in the middle. Not a rookie in shortened off season. Mckenzie? Move Black over?
I don't think Black moves over
McKenzie and Foster will probably get to fight it out in the
Remember, there’s no necessity for the Middle Linebacker to be the one making the defense’s calls. There’s no reason why the SAM or WILL or one of the safeties can’t do it. Derrick Brooks used to make all the calls, after all.
The linebacker situation does seem shaky
Hoping Buc’s make a sensible FA pick up.
Tulloch…
And suddenly, our team looks way more complete…
((b-town))
... and keep our eye on CB Cortland Finnegan
in next years F/A signing period. I like the guy because he’s a scrapper.

He can certainly take you out of your game...
if you let him. I believe that HOU WR Andre Johnson opened some whoop ass on him last year when he took it a bit too far. A good, physical corner for sure that doesn’t shy away from contact.

honestly i think that with or without ruud this defense is going to get better as long as our front four can create more pressure. if the picks end up working out we will have one of the most dominate front fours in the game. even if bowers only plays a good 5-7 seven years at the level he showed he can play at with McCoy, Price, and Clayborn this is going to be the best we have been at those spots since the Sapp, McFarland, and Rice days An I believe that in a year or two we will have forgot about Ruud with hopefully Mason Foster filling in his spot. I believe in Morris an Dom an i have been behind them since they got hired i knew it was time for a change from good ole Gruden he was a good coach but couldn’t draft to save his life an i got real tired of the lets sign the oldest players we can find way that he did things here. this team has no where to go but up an i am ready for this ride. A Super Bowl victory is in our very near future probably not this year but then again we do Have Freeman so who knows, he will have this offense ready to go day one i am sure.
