Nibblin

I came across this while I was checking out NFL news on yahoo. In the article sources have Bucs GM Mark Dominik stating that he would keep an open approach to free agency however he would prefer to nibble in free agency rather than taking a big bite. The sources say that he prefers to build through the draft and re-sign his own players which we already know. It also talks about how he wants to try to emulate other successful franchises like the Colts. With all due respect to the Colts (I'm a big Peyton fan) that team has not been masterfully put together over the past 15 years. You take Manning out of the equation and they're a 5-11 team at best. Their defense has never been outstanding. Even the year they won the Superbowl they didn't have a great defense. They noticeably stepped up their game in the playoffs but even then they were nothing more than just solid. Looking at the situation I wonder how many more Superbowls they could have won had they gone out and gotten 1 or 2 top flight free agents to augment their roster. Think if they would have had a top 5 shut down corner in their secondary. Think if they would have had a Ray Lewis or Clay Mathews type linebacker. Perhaps it's semantics however I really hope that the Buccaneers have the gumption to pull the trigger if there is a free agent who fits our team who could potentially put us over the top. Not careless but not to careful either. There are lessons we can learn from other franchises without a doubt however we cannot be the Colts or the Steelers. We are the Bucs and damn proud to be so! So my message to Mr. Dominik is this... get us in just the right position and then FIRE THOSE CANNONS!

Bucs Nation what do you have to say to Mr. Dominik about free agency???
