Around SBN: Bob Sapp Denies Throwing Fights

Per rotoworld.com Well boys and girls this could be very bad. Even though I believe Matt Ryan is overrated, if he had both Mr. Green and Mr. White at his disposal he should be able to dominate. As much as I would like to trust E.J. Biggers going forward he was completely owned by Calvin Johnson this year. Green is a very similar build to Megatron, so if this were to happen I think it would be horrible moving forward. What do you guys think about this? If ATL can move up to six there is no reason we couldn't move up for Quinn or Bowers.

It'd cost them a pretty penny to move up that far

A lot more than I think A.J. Green is worth to them. The Falcons have several needs really, and if they want to destroy their draft to take a wide receiver I’d be pretty happy. While A.J. Green is a great talent, there’s historically a decent chance he busts anyway. And even if he doesn’t, the Falcons gave up a lot of talent to get him.

Yeah but moving forward I don't like our chances much

if Green goes there and does not bust. I think that our squad as of right now has more potential, but their fairly young on defense also. Peria Jerry, Brent Grimes, Curtis Lofton, and Sean Witherspoon all look like their going to be playing for awhile, their offensive line is basically set (pending free agency), seriously man their scary if they hit on A.J. Green

Peria Jerry didn't look all that good last year, actually

And their defensive line as a whole will be weak once Abraham declines, which could be next season.

They have a lot of decent talent at a lot of positions, but they don’t have a lot of elite players outside of Roddy White. Their ceiling as a team is limited because of that, and while AJ Green will help, them trading away all those other picks will leave them with some holes.

Their passing game will be really scary, though. It was much too conservative last year because they couldn’t threaten an offense deep.

I know Pat on the espn nfcsouth blog loves Peria

I remember he wanted the Buc’s to take him over Freeman. He really hasn’t done anything since his draft.

I agree that we have a much higher ceiling

Turner should not be elite much longer and I’m not quite sure that Matty Slice has the arm strength to utilize Green to his full potential. If Atlanta did do that would it make sense for the Bucs to look at Jimmy Smith from Colorado? I know DE is what I would like to get, but if we can’t even get Kerrigan or Aldon Smith, I don’t know if Clayborn is worth the 20th pick.

I'd take Clayborn there

But that’s just me.

I think we’re fine at cornerback with Aqib Talib, E.J. Biggers and Myron Lewis for the future, and Ronde Barber for at least one more year. I’d rather take an impact linebacker there, though Smith is a very talented cornerback.

I wouldn't be upset if we end up wtih Clayborn

not so sure I’ll be thrilled either. I don’t see him as a RDE but he could be a quality LDE for sure. My whole problem is picking 20th every round I’m not sure just how much we can improve with each pick, where as last year picking third every round was much much better. And if the Falcons take A.J. Green who could be a game changing WR and we get a servicable starter I just don’t see where we improved the team more than they did.

Yeah I can see that

At the same time, though, the dropoff in talent from the early second round to the late second round isn’t that big at all. Same for early third to late third. We won’t get as much talent from this draft as we did last draft because of the position, but also because this draft simply isn’t as deep. But I think we’ll be fine.

Sander are you planning on coming

over here to go to any games this year? It would be pretty sick to watch us play Peyton Manning, or of course one of the Falcon or Saint games… I went last year and got rowdy during throwback day, you should definately try to make a game and if you want I’ll meet you there
