Who are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
At this point. I don't know. In the Dungy era we were known for great defense and playing Buc Ball (being able to run the ball). In the Gruden era, it was more west coast offense and great defense. But in the Morris era, what is the identity of this team? We are supposed to be a run first team but yet we haven't invested in the run game (except signing Derrick Ward). We got lucky finding Blount and we have no capable backup or spell back behind him, and we don't run the ball very often anyways. Jeff Faine is the most overrated center in the leauge. He stinks at run blocking and he misses alot of block on pass protecting. The money he's getting paid he should be a pro bowler, but he is a disappointment. Josh Freeman is struggling this year throwing the ball and yet we fail to utilize our weapons. We traded up for Luke Stocker in the 4th round and he's been a non factor. Benn has show that he is a playmaker but is rarely used. And on defense we overall stink. But look at our scheme that we run and look at the personnel that we have in place. Quincy Black. Why is he on our team? He looks like he would be more suited for a 3-4 scheme (imo). Hayes is a great coverage linebacker but horrible at stopping the run. And Foster was stopping the run at one point and still continues to struggle in coverage. E.J. Biggers does not belong on the outside covering receivers one on one in man coverage. Our defensive line shows flashes but continues to be inconsistent. Sean Jones is terrible at coverage but can stop the run. So you have half of the defense that is decent or good and half that is just terrible. What does that equal? Inconsistent play on defense. We have one veteran on the team and that is Ronde Barber. He doesn't come across as that vocal leader to get this team going on defense, and now we are depending on young players to become leaders that haven't really done anything yet. I was a big Raheem fan, but I think his time with us will end soon. We have a lot of pieces in place. We just need to put them together. We need some coaches across the board who can fix this mess. Give us an identity on offense and defense, and bring some veteran guys in to mix in with our young talent. This 25 and under only team experiment has not worked. Lets correct our mistakes some how. I cant take another season like this.

i was thinking the same thing yesterday
we have no identity of offense, we want to fix the problem but i dont even know what kind of offense olsen has in mind as it seems that the playbook gets scrapped after the first 10 minutes. same can be said for the defense i heard announcers, like John Lynch, call this defense a tampa 2 with man coverage and blitz packages; which just sounds like a hot mess to me. i also think not having ID’s for both sides of the ball is hurting this young team. living in denver when tebow came in their staff really ‘dumbed’ down the playbook for him and they are having success; i think the same can be said for the dolphins on both sides of the ball.
I also went to UNM, the same university as Quincy Black, and saw nothing there to warrant a draft pick on him (let alone be a starter with a big contract). on any other team he would have been a walk-on signed to the team for special teams.

Yea we are all over the place and its frustrating when the announcers can call out what we are doing wrong or what we need to do and we cant get it done.
I think Black and his physical skillset got him drafted. Idk he seems like he would be suited better as a OLB in a 3-4.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
and i had to add a sentence in about Jeff Faine because he is overrated.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!

I think it's funny...
how it suggests a junk punch – for those who haven’t considered it on their own.

Offensively, we should be a power run first team.
Defensively, we dont have the skill DB’s to truly run the tampa 2. I dont have a clue as to what we are top to bottom and that stinks.

i figure if we were to run the tampa 2 we could be ok with biggers on the outside and tanard as a free safety.
no way does jones make it because he stinks at coverage. maybe grimm could do it. but idk im confused.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
Somewhat agree
Tampa 2 was named so for a reason, we used to ‘Own’ that D. I agree with Tanard (solid player) but Biggers is garbage. We cannot effectivly run the defensive scheme that we put the name on…..pathetic all around. I Grimm will be ok but we’ve got to have some leaders step up, gone are the days of Brooks, Lynch, Sapp to speak up show folks how to play ‘hit em in the mouth’ football. Really sad :(

So true
I was reading through Yahoo and saw an article on the Texans and their winning streak. They talked about the reason why they were so successful is that they finally established an identity. The Bucs have yet to do that on either side of the ball.
and we cant just depend on Lumpkin or Madu to be those second backs.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
We haven't seen Madu fully yet, too early to judge him

I'm just gonna start pimping him now.
My boy Bobby Rainey from WKU is gonna be the steal of the draft this year. We might be able to snag him as late as the 4th round and in my opinion he is 2nd round talent. Kid is an absolutely perfect third down back that is versatile enough to run between the tackles.

He is an absolute beast
Kid had over 400 carries this year. And before you say he can’t do it vs elite competition, here’s a scouting report with a clip of him doing his thing vs. LSU.
Scouting report says projected round 5-7. I’d love to get him there but I expect if he runs a decent forty that will move up to 3-4.

uh. the link..

Seems like they say that about about every short and stocky back these days.

I'm biased because he pretty much made my alma mater into a relevant football program singlehandedly.
WKU had two abysmal seasons since moving to 1A and Rainey’s play this year helped them get to a 7-5 record, and play a better first half than any of LSU’s opponents did this year. I literally have a huge man crush on him, but I think he is light years better than Madu or Lumpkin.

What about Jeff Demps of FLA?
He is listed at 5-8, 191 but runs a sub 4.3 40. Kinda like our boy Huggins.

Demps would be a nice late round pickup
But I wouldn’t take him before the sixth or seventh. He’s injury prone on top of being undersized.
A defense ranked #31 does not inspire confidence in one's defensive coordinator. Any head coach knows this: own up to it, Raheem- hire a full time DC and put your full focus on ONE of your jobs.

How is his injury history?
That’s the one thing you have to watch out for with small backs.
Oderint dum metuant
CBS Sports has him at 5-7, 205

which is not a small back – just an under tall back. Built like a rolling manhole cover. As a later round selection – I am totally on board. He would be pretty hard to see running behind the redwoods of an OL.
Still like Montee Ball though…

Yep. He has over 300 carries in each of the past two seasons and hasn't missed a game

Stupid formatting.
Took me forever to line it up right and then it changed it anyway.

Tru. its too early for Madu
But im tired of gambling loe draft picks. I would like to gamble on a guy who we have a great idea that he will pan out. instead of a lets give him a try and see if he can do something. we need a playmaker back there to help blount.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
That's why you get one in the 3rd-4th round this year

At the very least we get a RB in the third round.
Im just saying that if Richardson was available in the first i would get him. Or Ball in the second if hes available. if none are available then we go get the next best running back in the 3rd round at the least. We need to get somebody in with some type of confidence that they will produce instead of taking a chance on a lower round guy and wishing on a star that he produces.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
We've been over this- I'm not wasting time on explaining the cons of Richardson
