Love reading Steve White, he's very informative.
He says pretty much everyone but Miller are staying in the gap. Now I know we just hired some supposedly good d-line coaches, but if everyone is doing it, then isn’t it a coaching problem. I find it hard to believe that we are coaching these guys to stay in their gaps, but everyone is just unwilling to do so. Since we have so much trouble with zone blocking teams, it should be the main point of emphasis when going against a team like the Bears or Texans that we should maintain our gaps. I don’t know what is going on behind closed doors, but one think I do know is that our d-line coaches really need to step it up. Whether they need to cut someone or not is up to them, but they need to send a message that if you can’t do your job, then you can’t play here.

Interesting to hear someone else call out Faine
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.

I said the same thing about Faine.
Lets say he was a free agent bust. I disagree with his comments about Haynesworth tho.
Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!
He's been decent.
We need something better and younger though.
Agreed
Mike Brewster’s stock is falling a bit. I think he could still be better than Faine. The stock dropping means he could be taken in the third round, instead of the late first/early second he was projected to be.

I agree with his comments about Haynesworth
He doesn’t care about being in his gap in run defense. That’s a real problem in a one-gap defense. Worse yet, it seems to be rubbing off on the other defensive linemen.
Why not hire White as our DC?
Seems to have the pulse of this team and would make them accountable too. Thats what this entire team needs.

The guys' a good analyst
But he has all of one year of coaching experience (at the college level) IIRC, and there’s a lot more to being a coordinator than analysing what went wrong.
but one year of coaching at the college level can get you a head coaching job with the Bucs
YAY STEVE WHITE FOR HEAD COACH NEXT YEAR!

The glazers got exactly what they deserved, by taking a guy from the back room and shoving him to the front of the line
it’s we fans who now have to suffer .

Seems like most of the running plays that burned us were stretch plays last week.
Haynesworth can’t really be blamed for those.

Lots of people were out of their gap
And no one’s saying he’s the sole reason Johnson went off. He’s just part of the problem, which affected basically the entire front seven. But DTs have their responsibilities on zone stretch/outside zone too. Haynesworth wasn’t playing them
Haynesworth is lazy and out of shape.
But he is a good football player when he wants to be. He has also been with the team for three weeks. If people want to make him the scapegoat for the recent rushing performances that’s fine, but it’s disingenuous.

No one's making him the scapegoat
But other people want to make him out to be some kind of savior. He isn’t.
Also, being here three games is irrelevant. Playing in a one-gap scheme isn’t hard from a mental standpoint: just stay in your gap.
I wasn't saying it because he had to learn a system.
I’m saying it because we haven’t been able to stop the run with the exception of Turner all season (or three seasons).

The problem with our run D is they cant contain the edge...

Most of that is due to linebackers getting swallowed whole by offensive linemen. I can’t remember the last time I saw one of our backers run with a stretch or sweep play, knife through the hole, and obliterate the back. I’m not naive enough to think it is all the linebackers’ fault. The ends need to keep contain, and the tackles need to stop the Oline and from getting to the next level. But sometimes we just need to make a play. Foster is gonna be good, Hayes is hit and miss, but Black plays like a blindfolded cheetah. He is fast, but has no clue where he is going…
