It goes back to pop warner

On "The Raheem Morris show", Raheem was asked about the injury to Gerald McCoy. At about the 26 minute mark of the podcast , this is what he had to say:

"Goes back to pop warner. You know every pop warner coach will tell you not to arm tackle, and that's exactly why. You got to put your chest on people you got to have your eyes up. Sky your eyes and do the right thing all the time."

So McCoy goes out with his second season ending bicep injury in 2 seasons, and Morris says he makes a Pop Warner level tackling mistake to get the injury? And that's after there was a serious knock on McCoy going into the draft about his upper body strength. He had only benched 225# 23 times at the combine.

I don't know what to make of this, but when your coach calls you out for trying a bad tackle even for 'Pop Warner' there is a big problem.

Really, nothing?

I’m not buying that entirely. I’m not sure it WAS about arm strength, but if you don’t have the strength it would be a lot easier to get your arm pulled out of position.

Yugly.

McCoy has looked extremely strong this season

He really beefed up during the offseason.

Besides, in his rookie year it looked like he overstretched his muscles reaching for a back, tearing the biceps. I haven’t seen this year’s injury, but from the description it sounds like the same thing.

I would rather have McCoy here than Raheem...

and perhaps if he weren’t a Pop Warner coach, we would be playing better.

Further proof that Raheem is a joke

He throws McCoy under the bus by saying he got injured because of "pop warner fundamentals ". Umm hello aren’t you the head coach, the one in charge of the defense? You’ve had two years with this guy so why is he still playing on a pop warner level?!

RAHEEM IS A JOKE! OLSON IS GARBAGE! THE GLAZERS SUCK!

I dont agree with you Sander.

Upper body strength and more particularly ARM strength are very important in tackling. Especially when tackling with poor technique. I have worked our for years and having upper body strength has saved me from numerous injuries to the arms..

Sure

I don’t think this specific injury has anything to do with it, tho. Even it does, McCoy was clearly much stronger in the upper body than last year.

Morris is helping this team come apart

This team is coming apart right in front of our eyes. I am a die hard Bucs fan and it is painful to watch. First Winslow waves his hand at Freeman walking off the field and get into an argument on the bench in the win vs. New Orleans. I didnt care to see that but it happens so we move past it. Then last game Winslow pushes/throws or whatever you want to call it, Paker on the field. Blount commits a personal foul by shoving the facemask of the Saints player after the game. In the game vs. Chicago Talib gets a ridiculous penalty at the end of the game that really hurt the Bucs chances of pulling out a win. Now Raheem calls out McCoy in public and says he tackles like he is in Pop Warner. Rather than trying to rally this team he is only adding to the fire. The players have become undisciplined and so is the head coach. I think TB came into the season with some hype that they were an up and coming team (which I still think they are) but they are young and not winning so they are losing their composure because they dont know how to handle themselves and I dont think Raheem Morris knows how to handle himself either.

Jeff Fisher would be a GREAT choice...

just wonder about the relationship he has with Fat Albert?

This

I was not endorsing Fischer

Just repeating names I hear tossed around. I have no real opinion on college talent vs nfl retread, although Fischer seems like a better fit for us than Cowher if we’re just talking those 2.

Weird Genetic issues on the D line

most of our defense is trying to arm tackle. No one else has gone down with this injury. Its genetics and misfortune. like Price our DT position is plagued with weird genetic issues. I also believe Clayborne has one arm longer then the other. Insert lazy geriatric waiver wire pick up.
