Gerald McCoy to IR with right biceps injury - confirmed
Raheem Morris has just confirmed that Gerald McCoy will be placed on injured reserve with a torn right biceps, ending his season. That's the same injury that ended his season last year, and it looks like it was caused by the same action: reaching out to tackle a running back with one hand. It has to be concerning that McCoy suffered essentially the same injury in the same way twice in two years, albeit to different arms.
With McCoy injured and Frank Okam recovering from a calf injury the Bucs only have two healthy defensive tackles on the roster: Brian Price and Roy Miller. While George Johnson, Da'Quan Bowers and Michael Bennett could all play inside in a pinch, that's hardly an ideal solution. The Bucs will likely need to add a defensive tackle to the roster, which is what Raheem Morris suggested as well.
Given the fact that the Bucs currently have five defensive ends on the roster and Tim Crowder was deactivated against the Saints, that could be the end of his presence on the roster.

Raheem apparently said Bowers can't play tackle
If Bennett gets moved inside that should open up more playing time for Bowers at end though.
Yugly.
Yeah probably
Gmc’s injury is a problem big time.

Hasn't Jeff Faine also had his bicep torn a number of times?
I don’t hear anyone talk about ‘bust’ with Faine. Why with GMC? Of course with Warren Sapp we never heard of a bicep being torn.
I really dont ever recall Sapp getting injured, although being football he probably did.
McCoy is not a bust, I am tired of hearing about it. Obviously he needs to build more upper body strength and arm strength.
3 to 4 years is a good general rule to determine if a player is a bust or not though….

I think its fair to say we expected too much from mccoy

Still a big loss for our DL
I don’t think the re-occurring injury defines this guy, unfortunate yes but we see a difference when he’s absent. That’s enough to expect the best from him that’s why it sucks so bad to know he’s out for the year.

Are their any FA DTs of note out there?
Should I not even bother asking because, even if there are, we’re going to sign a UDFA?
