Bucs offense

I watched the thursday night game and it just blew me away. The bucs offense has so much more talent than the denver offense but denver still finds a way to score 17 pts on the jets defense and the bucs cant score on anyone. I wish the bucs would play with as much heart and determination as denver did. Tb has so much more talent they should not look this bad

Exactly

Get it to Winslow. He's open!!!!

Remember back when DEN wanted to hire Raheem as HC?

If they had, DEN would be playing offense like we do – and we might be winning here instead.

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 3:35 PM EST up reply actions

I only see this "better" scenario benefiting DEN...

because I don’t see Rah doing very much here except turning over our roster. Results are the same. We have not statistically improved, at all, over 3 years. This current team smells a lot like our 3-13 team. Plus, his supposed “defensive expertise” still has not shown up. Again, he was a cheap-o hire and the tightwad Glazers socked away $$ for a couple of years.

I hope they open up the purse strings and hire a Marty Mornhinweg, or someone of his ilk, to get us back on track offensively after this “Dollar Store Debacle”.

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 4:10 PM EST up reply actions

I completely disagree that this team hasn't improved since 2009

They’re not playing well right now, but they’re a lot better and a lot more talented than when Raheem took over.

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

Perhaps you should compare our final statistics 2009-2011

before speaking with your heart. We are still at or near the bottom of every meaningful DEF statistic for the last 2 1/2 seasons. NOTHING has changed there and whatever offensive gains we may have made last season can be attributed to the cream puff schedule.

Hiring Marty Mornhinweg could solve a multitude of issues – maybe he can bring Howard Mudd for the OL and Mike Caldwell as DC.

Check and mate…

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 4:40 PM EST up reply actions

I won't argue the defense

The secondary has absolutely collapsed this year. Run defense was much improved in the first part of the season, until that disappeared too for some reason.

But the Bucs have a lot more talent than they did in 2009, and they’re easily playing better football than they were back then. That’s no contest, really.

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 4:45 PM EST up reply actions

Rah is a defensive expert... supposedly

Hype much?

You love statistics Sander – until they conflict with you own theories. Well, I guess we will just have to ignore the mountains of statistical data and simply “agree to disagree”

Circa 2009 – I told you so

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not sure what your point is

The defense has played some terrible football this year. I’m not arguing that point. And at this point I agree that Raheem’s tenure as a defensive coordinator looks like failure. But that doesn’t mean the team (which consists of more than just defense) isn’t playing better than 2009.

Maybe you forgot, but the Bucs started that season out 0-7. The offense was completely inept. At least the Bucs can run the ball this year. Except they never do.

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 4:53 PM EST up reply actions

My point is...

that you are simply wrong about our talent level. It just took slightly better teams to expose it.

Sadly, now the “better” teams also include the likes of OAK, DET, SF, CIN and a couple of our other “patsies” as they we labeled last year.

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 5:09 PM EST up reply actions

The Bucs have lost to Cincinnati and Oakland when, exactly?

And Detroit and San Francisco are better than 90% of the league right now.

Anyway, I don’t think I misjudged the Bucs’ talent level, except when it came to wide receivers. Though even then, it’s important to separate talent level from current quality of play, something you fail to do. The Bucs are playing poorly, and in your eyes that means the Bucs have no talent anywhere.

When the Bucs beat the Saints and the Falcons earlier this year, did they do that because of some magical temporary talent?

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 5:15 PM EST up reply actions

I have become hesitant to "mix it up" here...

now because you, and others, possess “veto” powers and can delete entire threads (which has happened to me under the guise of being “mean”) so you win. We didn’t catch ATL and NO at the right time – as they themselves were really struggling. CIN didn’t implode last season to give us a win, and although we haven’t played OAK since 2008, they were not a previously crappy team that would now beat us senseless. None of that happened.

Rah 2011 is awesome, Dom is awesome, our defense and offense are awesome and it is simply an irrational league-wide conspiracy that we don’t win every game by 24.

… and I live to post another day.

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 5:24 PM EST up reply actions

... and we do have SOME talent here

as I listed in some other post a day or two ago. We just don’t have enough of it because Dom is afraid to sign a F/A.

I mean… just kidding. : )

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 5:26 PM EST up reply actions

I don't hide threads unless people start getting personal or questioning people's fandom

And neither does any other mod here. You can act all indignant, but that’s all that’s ever happened with your comments. No comment was ever hidden because of your opinions on the team, so please don’t pretend I’m censoring people here. You want to discuss that further, send me an e-mail.

As for the rest, I’m not sure how you think I view this team’s talent level, but I’m pretty sure you don’t have a good view of my views on the matter.

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 5:34 PM EST up reply actions

Your "discipline" here is measured inconsistantly...

and I never said you did it – merely that it has been done. I was also called a “dick” by the person who warned me, which suggests that they are unsuitable for their current position and also appear completely unprofessional. IShould I choose to discuss it further, it should be done with complete transparency here in an open forum – so others can marvel at the inner sanctum of Buc Nation.

by Cracker Ball on Nov 18, 2011 5:57 PM EST up reply actions

No, it shouldn't

As I said, you want to discuss that, send me an e-mail. That’s all there is to it.

The Bronco O scored 10 points

And I think Denver’s offense right now is extremely limited and will prove ineffective in the long run. Like the Wildcat.

Still, the Bucs should look much better than they do.

by Sander on Nov 18, 2011 11:22 AM EST up reply actions

Amen to that

Bucs are more talented, but Denver is on a mission. Tebow has the best intangibles in the game, and I love to watch him go out there and will his way to victory.

by BUCSwillDOMINATE on Nov 18, 2011 9:52 AM EST via mobile reply actions

"...will his way to victory." There's a parallel there with the Bucs.

Last season we played pretty conservative but fought hard. This season the team seems much more passive. I don’t really know what else to say about it. Maybe we just need to mix in a few more mean streak guys to go with all the team captain types.

Tenard has no excuse for lack of effort either.

Poor tackling, bad angles aside is one thing, but poor tackling? No way…
