The senator of florida is sick of these blackouts

He says hes gonna,do something about it,i think hes gonna put a case together and take it to the nfl, so he says. Also he says these owners get tax breaks for the stadium and they shouldnt if the games are blacked out.

by Carlitin1988 on Oct 18, 2011 9:31 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

The senator of Florida can say a lot of things

But he has no shot. Supreme court already took a look at the blackout rules in the ’60s (if I recall correctly) and established that they could only black out locally. But that that was fine.

by Sander on Oct 18, 2011 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions

I'm glad hes at least trying

Its true though, were (tax payers) paying for the stadium why cant we watch? That saints game looked pretty packed too

by Carlitin1988 on Oct 18, 2011 11:20 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Sounds good

I doubt anything will come of it though. They should because it is freaking ridiculous.

Very simple

People need to just come to the games.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 11:31 AM EDT reply actions

But for some people its not about money

Theres tons of people that are handicapped and cant go, theres people that weigh 300 pounds and dont feel comfortable in a tiny seat, theres people that dont have cars, theres kids that would like to watch the games because their parents cant afford to take them to EVERY home game, theres millions of reasons why some people just dont go and some have to do with money and some dont.. The “go to the game if you wanna watch” theory sicks

by Carlitin1988 on Oct 18, 2011 12:25 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I guess im just different

every game the bucs come into the dc area i go to. i fly to at least one bucs game per year. Im just saying some of those excuses that you listed are not very good. youre talking about a select few folks. but i guarantee if the bucs won the super bowl this year the attendance next year would be through the roof. I have never been to the bucs stadium yet but it cant be that bad as you describe it. Parking? Why would you drive? why dont you get dropped off at the stadium like most people do. Money wouldnt be an issue either if the bucs were winning consistently.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 6:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Most people dont get people to drop them off, at least not down here

And if any team wins the superbowl the attendance of course would be through the roof, anything other than that is an epic failure

by Carlitin1988 on Oct 18, 2011 7:00 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Ive never heard of anybody getting dropped off at a game.

Is that like going to a movie when i was in middle school?

I have lived in Baltimore, DC, and New York/New Jersey

I have seen plenty of people dropped off at the games or ride the train and catch the shuttle from the nearest station. Who pays for parking? And have you ever heard of a girlfriend? She dont wanna go to the game so whats the problem with getting dropped off and picked up by her? Id rather go to the game than watch it on my computer.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly all those places have massive public transportation systems.

I would love to see a game or two live, and like quite a few have mentioned here my preferred way to watch a game is on my TV but I’m stationed in South Carolina so my only option is the computer If I was back home 40 minutes north of Tampa, the only way I can get there is by my self, and my wife would go with me. Public transportation is not that extensive.

by huntin0 on Oct 18, 2011 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

Understandable

I understand that its not really accessible to get there via public transportation but i say obviously arent going to the games and somebody you know has to have a car that is not going whats the big issue with getting dropped off at the game by someone who isnt going. I just dont see the how that is somehow childish to do so.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 19, 2011 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions

The game experience has been surpassed by the television experience.

I’ll go to a couple of games a season for the atmosphere and tailgatiing etc. But to just watch the game, I would much rather be at home. Who in their right mind would rather go pay $6 for a hot dog and $9 for a 16oz Bud Light? I have to pay more for parking at a Bucs game than I would pay for a six pack of beer and whatever it is I’m grilling that Sunday. It’s just not worth it.

I think that even with people with substantial disposable income feel the same way.

It’s a ripoff. Pure and simple. Like I said above, I enjoy watching the game on television better anyway. No seat in the house matches the HD experience on TV in my opinion.

I do agree with that

If i lived in the area though i probably would go to a lot of games. They are probably dirt cheap

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 6:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Your crazy.

They might be that cheap to you and your income but to the majority of people in that area its not an option. I guess it all comes down to income first and priorities second

by huntin0 on Oct 18, 2011 9:55 PM EDT up reply actions

I am not crazy.

If those prices arent cheap to you then maybe you should just not complain about the blackouts. Nobody said go to every game but at least once a year shouldnt kill your yearly budget. Its lots of money that is spent carelessly worldwide but the you know like i know that money is not the MAIN issue why tampa fans dont show up for the games

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 10:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed, DCBuc obviously had disposable income. Good for you

Most people I know dont, some even have a hard time paying bills.

I am far from rich.

But i think every American has some sort of disposable income. Whether you buy soda instead of free water, etc….. we all spend money sometimes that we could have spent on something else more important. The fact of the matter is that people try to make the claim of the attendance being low due to people not having any money when that really is not the case. Yes it has some factor but that is not the main case. Detroit is by far one of the poorest cities in the US and they havent been blacked out this year. Only the Bucs. I do believe the owners should do a better job buying up the tickets and making a better push to get the fans to come out. But they fact of money being the issue why attendance is low to me is false.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 19, 2011 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions

How you going to watch it on tv if its blacked out?

Unless you pay for it which you can just go to the game.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 18, 2011 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I have been to tampa many, many times...

and out of a MSA totalling 3+ million people, there should be enough to sell out a 70K stadium. Plenty of money around the area for that. Must be other factors at play…

by Cracker Ball on Oct 19, 2011 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions

It obviously is.

I know it aint because of lack of money.

by dcbucsfan on Oct 20, 2011 2:49 PM EDT up reply actions

For real

I mean disney has introduced a monthly pay program, all other businesses have taken big hits why is it fair to pay 20-30dollars to PARK at a single event?

by Carlitin1988 on Oct 18, 2011 1:14 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Thats another thing

Is a 35$ seat gonna be better than my huge hd tv? Im not sure it will, even if I won the lotto tomo im not sure id go to every game because I enjoy the game from home and im sure there are many fans like me

Agreed!

300+ yards passing, 2 TD’s, 0 picks. Not sure if he was sacked.

That’s mediocre?! I’ll take mediocre every game then.

by flash_kiley on Oct 18, 2011 1:51 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

The blackout rule to me is stupid

the people who go to the games go because they want to, not because they can’t see it on tv!

BIUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!

by bucfanlostiniowa on Oct 18, 2011 12:44 PM EDT reply actions

The owners make their money from the revenue sharing

the stadium could be empty and they’d probably still turn a profit! (ok I know that’s not true I just said it cause I’m mad)

Although I enjoy the game experience in person

Nothing beats the comfort of home. My lazy boy, A/C, fridge, clean bathroom, and of course the HD big screen. I try to go to one game a year, however, it is not really financially suitable for me, so I would just prefer to stay home and watch the game.

LOL at the Raiders

Cincinatti fans have to be loving life right now. This is worst trade rape since we got a second rounder for Gaines Adams

Raiders did get draft pick raped

But palmer, if ready to go makes the raiders a very dangerous team……

by Bucfan on Oct 18, 2011 8:53 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I don't think OAK got draft pick raped...

as the 2nd #1 is conditional. Picking up a fairly young starter with that much experience does not come cheal. I actually like Carson Palmer and hope he does well. CIN is where thugs go to die and probably a tough place to succeed.

by Cracker Ball on Oct 19, 2011 5:52 PM EDT up reply actions

The second #1 is conditional

If the condition (win a playoff game) isn’t met, then it reverts to a second rounder. That’s still pretty bad.

by Sander on Oct 19, 2011 5:57 PM EDT up reply actions

If they're record continues to improve...

it will be late in the round anyway. Like ’em or not – the Raiders are willing to roll the dice. Still nothing like MIN giving up their future for Herschel Walker

So...Premature and all

but does anyone have any thoughts about Tanard and his contract after the season?

If Raheem loves him and Dom can include a behavior clause, I'm fine.
