Aqib Talib suspended for one game for violating Personal Conduct Policy
Jay Glazer's reporting that Aqib Talib got suspended for one game for his cabby-slugging incident last year.
Update: Adam Schefter is reporting that the Bucs previously appealed the sentence but the appeal was denied.

They sure took their time.
Why didn’t hand out this punishment last year when it was pertinent?
5 picks out of the first 100 in a draft saturated with talent. Yes, I'm optimistic.
It took a long time for the legal process to end last year
I think that’s what they were waiting for. Add to that that the Bucs were appealing the suspension too, so that took some time.
Thats absolutely garbage!
Aqibs my favorite Buc right now I’m traveling from PA to come watch week one.
The timing is lame...
..but let’s face it, he assaulted a guy. Hopefully it serves as yet another reminder to him to keep his nose to the grindstone. He is our best player in the secondary, possibly on the whole team. We need him to start taking his role on the team and in the community more seriously.
Does this mean Lewis will get a chance to play an entire game? Or would it be Mack?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised it wasn't more than this
Though I’d kind of thought the NFL forgot about the incident after this much time.
4 games for a 2 time rapist
1 game for assault.
Suspension was fine.

Alleged rapist
And yes, there’s a difference. Charges weren’t even filed against Roethlisberger, Talib all but admitted guilt by agreeing to enter that intervention program.
Alleged assaulter than
Talib was never convicted of anything.
Settlement =/= admission of guilt.

Intervention program =/= admission of guilt either.

the other dudes in the car corroborated the driver's story
right?
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.
I hope Talib
Realizes that this isn’t college anymore, he can’t get away with cutting classes and doing stupid ass shit anymore. He should just man up and just shadow Ronde Barber around and try to pick up as much as he can. Barber is one of the best DBs in buc history and if he wants to be anything close to that he will keep out of trouble. We are already thin at DB. And i hope this is the last negative thing we hear about him…
The Bucs have been saying he's really matured this offseason
Though who knows how much of that is true.
And lets be honest
the father of a troubled kid will always say he is a good kid….so i feel maybe they are just saying that so we still have hope of going 8-8

The guy has practically been an angel for a year.
This is what I hate the most about this suspension, it rehashes way too much negative crap.

One of the Best???
Can you name one better??
Josh Freeman will be better than Matt Ryan, not so sure about Drew Brees!!
Yeah, I'd think so too
What I"m interested in is the roster implications. They could cut Mack for a roster spot, keeping 4 CBs and then using Tanard Jackson for this one game to play some corner in emergency situations. They could also keep Mack, but then Myron Lewis probably won’t see the field much and they’d be down another roster spot – maybe forcing them to cut Corey Lynch.
It would make sense....but I wouldn't count out both of them making the team.
Stranger things have happened

Mack was burned on the outside plenty of times last year.
Roberson played well in Talib’s absence last year (in the Atlanta game), and Biggers is playing well. We still have Myron Lewis.
It ‘is’ the Browns, and they don’t have a very dangerous receiver. Whew..
man I really like Talib on the field
but off the field he just sounds like a trouble maker. Hopefully he matures(I hope they are telling the truth when they say he is maturing this offseason), because he has a very bright future in football ahead of him.

Talk about timely discipline. Geeze.
I understand appeals take a while, but this seems like overkill. Can he be suspended for our bye week, at least?

I'm just glad that Cleveland as of right now doesn't have any killer WR
One could show up during the game but at least the Bucs are not missing against a team with a true elite WR.. only silver lining I can think of at the moment, when I heard the news, combined with the Ward cutting.. i let out a nice long FFFFFF….
"I've got nothing to prove,"- Warren Sapp
CLE does have some promising young WRs...
like Mohamed Massaquoi, Chansi Stuckey and rookie Carlton Mitchell. We don’t have anyone that can run with him, so this game would be a test even with Talib.
I believe biggers will get the start in place of talib.
Not only do they have unproven receivers in cleveland but they won’t be a passing team. They’re going to stick to the run. Of course they’re going to test talib’s replacement a few times but thats to be expected. It could be a lot worse so lets just be happy its not the colts week 1.
