Cody Grimm, Our Next Young Star SS?

Cody Grimm keeps making play, after play. He broke up a touchdown pass yesterday against the Jags. He made a couple a nice plays in the earlier pre season games. Let the kid get a season under his belt & he might be a STAR! He is a sure tackler & he his a smart football player. I think we could have our young play making SS we been missing since the great John Lynch left.

He does have some hustle

And while he is young, he definately seems like a sure tackler

The only bummer to his situation is our suddenly “depthful” secondary. We got T-Jack, Jones who’ll probably hold down the roster spot but with Sabby, Lynch and Grimm all displaying potential. I think Lynch and Grimm exert alot more effort, alot more hustle than you usually see outta youngsters. I like that. As for Sabby, I don’t know. Its on his shoulders but I could see either of the latter passing him on the ladder with time. But after reviewing some footage, I can say that Sabby does sometime come up with some good plays when his name is pulled. I wish I could say that it was the majority of the time but I can’t.

I agree that Grimm should continue his good play and give this last preseason game all he has to land that #2 . If he doesn’t make the cut, he definately will make PS atleast… For sure

Go Underdog

Grimm has shown a lot of hustle and the way he closed on that pass in the endzone Saturday shows he is quicker and more explosive than his 40 time gives him credit. Whether he makes the roster… I don’t know. Lot of good players in the def backfield.

The only problem is....

He has made enough plays through the preseason for someone to offer him a contract with another team. Not only that but his name carries enough weight with his play for that to happen also. The kid is a damn fine player the way it looks so far….

WAIT?

Lynch is related to Lynch??

I don’t think so cuz I heard John say that there was no relation

No, You are right. No relation.

But John Lynch said he wouldn’t mind claiming him as a relation the way he hits and is always around the ball and of course his special team play.

Lynch is underrated too,

I like him just as well as Grimm.

So you can keep knocking but won't knock me down

I hear ya

Both of them look alot more natural to the position, whereas Sabby looks awkward or hesitant on coming into the box.

Grimm not a starter this year

But as a 2nd teamer, possible platooning for certain defensive plays, and definitely a special teamer. It took a few years for Lynch to settle into his role: here’s hoping Grimm can too.

Witty's 2010 Draft review is full of meaty goodness. What you mean, you're vegan?! Sigh. Just read it.

Sabby made plays too before he became a starter

Grimm just has to do it on Sundays, and he will be called on to make those big plays on special teams or aka our We-Fense. Rah likes top play 3 safeties, I think Sabby will probably be 3rd behind Jones and Jackson, if not Sabby then maybe Myron Lewis. The only way I see Grimm contributing is if someone gets hurt(Lets all hope that don’t happen), he will show what he can do be being a special teams specialist, by playing Beamer ball at Virginia Tech Grimm should be skilled at what he has to do.

Grimm makes it possible to cut Sabby, which wouldn't bother me at all.

If an optimist had his left arm chewed off by an alligator, he might say in a pleasant and hopeful voice, "Well this isn't to bad, I don't have a left arm anymore but at least nobody will ever ask me if I'm left-handed or right-handed" but most of us would say something more along the lines of "Aaaaaa! My arm! My arm!" DANIEL HANDLER (as Lemony Snicket)

Hope we can find a way to keep him

If he doesn’t make the 53 he will be hard to sneak past waivers on to the practice squad.
