This is great news. Several people are reporting McCoy's about to sign tomorrow, so everyone will be in camp.

UNFNole's notes: LaCanfora of ProFootballTalk.com is reporting that the contract has been agreed upon in principle. Sounds like the Glazers / Dom budged.

Very quick Sander

I was about to post it myself but I am on my phone and it is not that quick. It should be noted that it is not signed yet, but Penn and his agent are flying in now to finalize the deal. All I have to say is hallefreakinluja it is over. Now my fear of Freeman beeing pummeled all season has decreased 85%!!!!

Not yet

Penn’s on his way to Tampa now to physically sign, the details will probably be known tomorrow.

What would be your guess Sander?

I am guessing 3-4 actually.

As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.

Noway he got that much. He's not worth $10 mil a year, and I doubt the Bucs would pay that.

I was going off the same numbers Sanders listed below.

When at weight, he is absolutely an elite LT.

I don't really know

I really don’t. I don’t think he’s going to get absolutely premium money, mainly because he has no Pro Bowl credentials or something similar to that. But he’s still going to get good money.

Let’s see, David Diehl got 6-years, $31M in ‘08. Michael Roos got 6 years, $43M with $16M guaranteed in ’08. Jason Peters got 6 years, $60M with $25M guaranteed in ’09. Jordan Gross got 6-years, $60M with $30M guaranteed in ’09. D’Brickashaw Ferguson got 8-years, $73M but he had no real guaranteed money (only guaranteed for skill, not injury. He’s got a problem if he goes down).

Based on that, and because it’s a year later, I’d say probably something like what Peters and Gross got last year, maybe slightly less. But it’s mostly just a guess.

Good to hear.

Lets just hope he’s kept up with his conditioning. We’ll definitely need him.

Conditioning is easy to fix. Just takes effort.

Awesome

I was really afraid he would hold out into the season but it looks like we are gonna have both are O and D lines ready for the start of the regular season
good job to the buc’s front office for getting everything done

It would have shocked me if we didn't get a deal done.

Quality left tackles don’t come around everyday.

Demar Dotson would have been a significant downgrade.

However, many thought it would stop enough bleeding to go after a early-round LT in next years draft, ie Joesph Barksdale.

Imagine if we risked everything with Dotson...

At least we can focus on other positions in the first round of next year’s draft. Running back? Linebacker?

by Bucs on Jul 30, 2010 8:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Linebacker?

Nah. Unless one of the LBs bombs badly this year, I think they’re pretty satisfied with Hayes/Ruud/Black.

I’d say defensive end, cornerback or safety are more likely. Myron Lewis isn’t likely to be an instant solution and Ronde’s getting close to retirement. Next year’s draft looks especially deep in cornerbacks and defensive ends.

by Sander on Jul 30, 2010 8:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Not to mention a descent depth chart at LB.

If Ruud sh**s the bed this season, I could see it...

Not likely but anything is possible depending on what number our pick is and who is available. I agree that DE is a more pressing need.

I would

Go for Allen Bailey DE from Miami he’s a beast…

Thank you

Thumbs up to the Bucs front office for getting the job done. Now we know Freeman blind side will be protected down the line. Now all the offensive line has to do is keep gaining chemistry within the system together.
