Buccaneers pick up 5th year option on Freeman's contract

22

The Pewter Report is reporting that Tampa Bay has picked up the 5th year option for quarterback Josh Freeman. If the option had not been picked up, Freeman would have been a free agent after just his fourth year. This also means that Freeman will receive a little more guaranteed money on his five year, $36M contract. As we all know, a player can be cut at any time in the NFL but it's nice to see that the front office has a lot of faith in our young QB. The article goes on to state that while many players on vacation, Freeman has been a fixture at One Buc Place. All we can do at this point is hope and pray that the vote of confidence and all the work Freeman has put in during the offseason translates into success on the field.
