As it seems Raheem Morris and the Buccaneers plan of attack is to force turnovers and score touchdowns. The team roster is beginning to fit this style of play. The players that we drafted adds to that style of play, the back seven of our defense have players that can make plays, Mccoy and Price will get them good looks. Offense has a big arm QB, Benn and Williams will make sure he gets good looks, not to add a world class TE who is better than a lot of receivers. This is a high risk high reward style, and reminds me of a previous team from the windy city
The 2006 Chicago Bears were built like this, biggest difference is that we don't have that Hester element on special teams. Once our young guys establish there identities, then we will begin to see the similarities. This team is not being geared to run the ball, I think they will have some balance but we will take our shots down field. Kellen made big plays in tight windows last year, This year he will have more room to operate, and he will more than likely be Freeman's got to guy.
Another similarity in the teams are our running backs, Jones and Williams are both balance running backs having both speed and power, Jones just runs with more pop and Cadillac runs with more juice. The biggest similarity is our defense. We both play an aggressive Tampa2 that is not going to be happy with just 1 or 2 turnovers. Tampa wants to get tremendous pressure with there front 4, but will send in the perfect mix of linebackers and Defensive backs on blitzes to not only cause turnovers but also keep the opposing offense off balance.
Just look at our 2 new faces of the franchise Josh Freeman and Gerald Mccoy, Tampa is not bringing Freeman along to hand the ball off like Big Ben first was, they are trying to find mismatches and exploit them like any team who is aggressive will try to do. Mccoy aint know stout head up power run stopping DT, he is an athletic freak who is going to be asked to get as much pressure as possible in other teams backfields. Both players fit official plan of attack the score touchdowns force turnovers style, this teams picture is being painted more clearly.
Every style in the league has its pro and cons, the thing about the pros ( a lot of touchdowns plus plenty turnovers) is it's extremely rewarding but the cons ( low TD numbers plus not getting any turnovers ) will have you lost and make the players look like amateurs. As long as the players by in to the system and play for each other we will roc with the best of them.
