Breaking News.....Rams, Bucs Swap Picks!!
Ok, "What If" the Bucs and Rams swap the number 1 and 3 picks in the upcoming draft straight up? My good friend Tom Edrington of Bleacher Report, bought up the possibility in his featured story "NFL Draft 2010: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Moving Up To Grab Ndamukong Suh?"
There have been rumblings coming out of Detroit that the Lions may select "SUHperman" with the number 2 pick. There have also been some rumbling coming out of Tampa that the Bucaneers are not completely sold on Gerald Mc Coy. Let's take a look at some of the possible options the Buccaneers have to move up or down in the upcoming draft.
1. SUH-Ve- Neer!
For the Buccaneers, the swap would mean more ticket sells, a franchise defensive cornerstone, a disruptive force in the middle of the defensive line, and a returning fan base. The Buccaneers were in the Albert Haynesworth sweepstake last year, so the money is there.
For the Rams, they can still get their signal caller without having to pay the number one overall top dollar price for their future signal caller. Win, Win!
2. Joe Haden
If the Bucs stay at number three, Suh is gone and they cannot find a partner to trade out, Haden will be one of three possibilities to draft.
Raheem Morris spent a considerable amount of time with Haden at Florida's Pro Day. Being a defensive back coach, you have to believe Morris liked what he saw.
3. Eric Berry
Again, if the Bucs stay at number three, Suh is gone and they cannot find a partner to trade out, Berry would also be one of the three draft possibilities.
If this move occurs, Berry would probably play nickel with Ronde Barber staying at corner or Sean Jones moving to nickel and a tandem of Berry and Tanard Jackson at free safety.
4. Russell Okung
The third possibility if the Bucs stay at number three, Suh is gone and they cannot find a partner to trade out, Okung would should be the last of the three possibilities to draft.
Resigning Donald Penn, picking Okung and move him to right tackle and regulating Jeremy Trueblood to back up will give the Bucs book-end tackles for years to come.
5. Gerald McCoy
Now, if the status quo stays the same, Gerald Mc Coy may be an excellent pick for the Buccaneers and this drill may be for not!.
What if...The Buccaneers trade out of the Number 3 Slot?
6. Dez Bryant anyone? Depending on how far they trade down, this would definitely be a weapon to get the ball moving downfield.
Okay, he made a mistake and lied to the NCAA about his relationship with Deion Sanders. "SO!" He's done his time, so let's move on.
This would also be a great start to luring fans back to the stadium.
7. Brian Price
Again, depending on how far they trade down, this would definitely be a first round alternative for not getting Suh.
Price, Tim Crowder, Roy Miller, Kyle Moore and Michael Bennett may give the Bucs a somewhat respectable front line to stop the run and add pressure to the quarterback.
Cold Buccaneer Games?
Every year the phrase "The outcome of this draft could be the Buccaneers future" never sounded so true as to the outcome of their selections in this year’s draft! Will it be another cold January game with empty seats? So, it begs the question "What If.... they swap picks?"

So ur saying the Rams
Would do us a favor and just switch picks with us so they wouldn’t have to pay number 1 money? I’ll be a little sketched out if i was Bradford. I hear that McCoy fits T2 better than Suh
Roger that....
The Bucs are trying to make a splash and recoup their fanbase back that they lost last year with the releasing of Brooks, Dunn, Garcia, Carter, Hillard, Galloway et al. The Rams still get their QB regardless of what Bradford thinks. If he don’t like it, I would not believe he has the pull of an Elway, Manning or even Bo Jackson to sit out or request a trade. Hopefully, he won’t pull a Michael Crabtree either. He could always try to work at Jiffy Lube if he doesn’t like it as well. Just a what if! smile
As for McCoy, I believe the Bucs want a desruptive force like Suh. Pundits are saying the Bucs should draft McCoy. Not sure if the Bucs really believe that.
I have seen or heard nothing that would suggest
McCoy would not do very well here. I personally prefer Suh, but McCoy will do just fine.

what rumbling about McCoy?
If there was any rumbling going on I’d have seen it on all the sports blogs I scan. Point out the rumbling sources okay?

Maybe he's referring to the rumours that the Bucs like Suh better than McCoy?
But those rumours are always followed by ’They’d be thrilled with McCoy too.’
You must not check out all the sports blogs.....

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
“I have word from a very reliable source (the same one that informed me of Tampa loving Josh Freeman last year) that if both Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy are available, the Buccaneers are taking Suh. McCoy is the safer pick, but Tampa’s front office is smitten with Suh.” Dated April 20, 2010.

“It’s no secret that the Buccaneers would love to land one of the two stud defensive tackles in this class. Word is if given the actual choice between the two, they actually prefer Suh!” Dated April 9, 2010.
The point being
That yes, the Bucs would be thrilled to choose Suh over McCoy (and who wouldn’t?), but I’m not seeing anything that says if Suh is gone the Bucs are avoiding McCoy like the plague.
You said in your original post “There have also been some rumbling coming out of Tampa that the Bucaneers are not completely sold on Gerald McCoy.” So what exactly is the rumbling? What are the Bucs not sold on? McCoy’s footwork? His arms? His chili recipe not up to snuff? What?
If Suh’s at the third spot it’s a no-brainer: Bucs take Suh. If Suh’s gone to Detroit and McCoy is still sitting there, that’s also a no-brainer: Bucs take McCoy. I’m not seeing anything else that says otherwise.

Also Pewter Report....
http://www.pewterreport.com/articles/view/6920
Pewter Report dated April 17, 2010 reports “Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh.” If you have access to this, PR states that if both Suh and Mc Coy were available to Tampa Bay at number 3, the Bucs would select Suh. Give me some credit, show me some love for doing some homework! smile!!
Not likely
I doubt the Bucs want the #1 pick. Just that much more money they would be on the hook for. McCoy seems to be the pick. If not Berry and Okung would seem to be the only other choices. 3 is likely too high for Haden. Trading down would be an option. I don’t think Bryant or Price would be a target. Bryant is likely to fall to 15-20. His problems go a lot deeper than the agent thing. He was constantly late to practice and even games in college. He also didn’t even remember his shoes when he worked out for scouts. He is the big slider in this draft. Price doesn’t seem like a 1st round talent.
"big-time players make big-time plays in big games."
Pay Suh, put fans in the stadium...
The price that they would have to pay Suh would be a drop in the bucket as it relates to regaing some of their fanbase that they lost last season. Since they were in the Haynesworth hunt last off-season and paid Winslow and Clayton extension bonuses, they can pay Suh! Haden or Berry at #3 across from Jackson and Talib would at least solidify the back end of the defense for years to come.
The Bucs also had Price and Bryant come in for some due-diligence. I believe there is some interest there if they fall into the Bucs lap.
Stay at #3
Take Suh or McCoy, or if by some odd turn of events both are taken, Berry.
Easiest pick in the draft. The ONLY hard part is deciding between Suh and McCoy if they are both available, and that’s a great problem to have.
If suh is gone...
and that’s my first choice….i woul love to se eric berry and brian price!!! that would be dynamite!!!
I think that trading up to #1 would be a good idea. This has been my thought from the beginning. The Rams dont need to pay Bradford #1 money when the next two teams in the draft dont have a need for a QB. If the Redskins hadnt gotten McNabb I would have been nervous if I was the Rams that the Redskins might have traded up with the Lions and taken Bradford but they got their QB and I doubt anybody else would trade with the Lions for the 2nd overall pick. I doubt this would happen though. I also think Haden would be a little high for 3.
Makes perfect sense for the Rams to trade down some, and it could happen still.
The only thing is, is that we could get screwed out of both DT’s then we’d have to move down as well.
Stay thirsty my friends.
Steelers are shopping Big Ben
They want a first rounder, but someone may get a fairly young QB who has proven he can play (but not make the best decisions).
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
Does Big Ben come with a Big Chastity Belt?
Otherwise, no deal. Ever.

No but all you need is a pair of scissors and the problem is solved.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
Would he be the same Quarterback without his uhhh... machismo?
"Nobody in the game of football should be called a genius. A genius is somebody like Norman Einstein." - Joe Theismann
Wouldn't that be something.....
If the Steelers really want to screw (pun intended) with Big Ben, they would trade him to St. Louis. What are the chances, if that would happen, that the Steelers take the number one pick and take Bradford? Or Suh?
if suh isnt there get, trade for haynesworth
i’m not sold on mc coy, get haynesworth if suh isnt there.
We should go get Haynesworth anyway...
a premiere DT is available. That is pretty rare in itself, and we did make a play for him last year. He can have him for a fraction of what we wanted to give him last year. It really does seem like a no-brainer.

Im sorry man but you just keep saying the same thing over and over again on every thread. Say something substantial man. Explain why you dont like McCoy. Youre obviously entitled to your opinion but dont post just for the sake of posting.
