Noticing Freeman weapons
Some on people on Bucem down grade the Weapons that are ready in place for Josh . Weapons for a QB is almost everything around him . If their were none then we will be drafting Spiller of Bryant . If we had no weapons then our draft needs will be possession receivers , Running backs , TE , blockers , and Deep threats ( that is one of our needs ) . Our only real need is deep threats I fell if we draft Tate and Gilyard then it would put the Icing on the cake . Here are some weapons that we already have in place, it might be a short list but it's a good list .
1st weapon. This is my favorite weapon and thats Kellen Winslow Jr . He is a problem other teams DBs can barley cover this guy . He is fast , strong , good body frame , nice hands , athletic man the list can go on . Once we get a deep threat and a wideout like Stroughter or Brown have a breakout year then his production will increase . His versatility is a weapon cause he gives you the option to line up tight in a power run play or he can split out and give Josh a 3 to 4 wideout look , if the D does not have the right personnel on the field then they are going to get ate up .
2nd weapon. This weapon might be Josh most important weapon . Its Cadillac and that run game , if teams are worried about this first then Josh will have a field day on opposing teams . Cadillac will get better by himself , you have to remember that even with the talent Williams showed last year he was not at his peak ,you cant being off 2 years in a row . All backs will be better cause they will not be running two different schemes , we came into the 09 season with a zone running style , by the end of the season we were to the man on man set the hole and the cutback lane type of running style , doing both in 1 year causes a lot of confusion . I fell that this unit will improve next year ,with Ward you know sometimes it takes a while to get use to this heat .
3rd weapon The receiving core . This group has possession receivers , good hands , and route runners . The mix of Stovalll , Brown , Bradley , Stroughter , and Clayton is not elite but if you don't have the personnel to cover this group then you will be in trouble . These guys are money in the end zone thats a good thing cause if we only need deep threats at this position then a deep threat cannot help us down on the goal line . With the 4 named and Tate that will be a good mix bring in Gilyard too and we cant be covered .
4th weapon This is the last weapon some might not consider it a weapon . It is the O-line these guys has helped a lot wit the Bucs development . Gruden put this line together and they are pretty good . IT was the reason Leftwich was able to throw for the yards he did and all the other QBs as well . They give time for the receivers to get down field . Antonio Bryant is not a deep threat ,but when you let a guy run them extended routes with the speed Bryant does have ,then he will look like a deep threat . Bryant or any other receiver was able to run them routes because the o-line gave them time to run it and Josh time to throw it . Playoff team or not many don't have that luxury , I am blessed that my team does .
Just cause we have a 3 and 13 team does not mean we don't have weapons ,we just need those glue guys to put every thing together . How many games were won by the Pats the year before they won their 1st Superbowl , not that many in fact I think it was 5 ,they had weapons on that team . Brady was the glue for them he kept the D off the field , and that made them play better as well . We just have to find our glue and our talent will excel . What you think Buc nation ?

I disagree that Clayton is "money" in the end zone
but beyond that, do you really think we’d take Tate and Gilyard both? I’ve made no secret about liking Tate, and I was ok with Gilyard in the third round if Tate was gone. I’ve also said I wouldn’t mind seeing us take a pair of receivers (one in 2nd, one in 3rd), but I really don’t think the draft will go down like that. Too many needs.
I agree.
I’d be happy with grabbing a receiver in Rd 2 and getting a hybrid player like Joe McKnight at the start of Rd 4. They need some electric playmakers on offense.
Cannons... fire them.

Heck yeah we do.
I hope they use one of our million 7th rounders on Trindon Holliday. Little dude can run the 100 meter in 10 seconds flat. He is a world class sprinter, so if he is there in the 7th I hope we take a chance on him. Even if we only give him the ball three or four times a game if he sees the open field nobody is going to touch him.

3rd "Weapon"?
Our third “weapon” sounds more like bringing a knife to a gun fight than a true threat. Lol
agreed Chris
With out that Deep threat that is what kind of weapon I would call our receiving corp ,but you have to remeber that not every team secondary ,is bringing a Gun to the fight also
I am going to dispute three of your four points.
…but I do appreciate you taking the time to write a post.
2) While the running game may be a weapon, it is hard to consider it a dangerous one if it is in the holster the entire time. You have to be able to draw your weapon, and Olsen has an inability to do so (even when 98% of coaches would have leaned conservative and run-heavy). Not to mention we ranked 31st in Run-Blocking according to these advanced statistics and we have made no improvement on our offensive line.
3) Our highest rated WR was shipped our at our next highest, Sammie Stroughter, ranked 73rd according to Football Outsiders. Michael Clayton had a catch rate of 33% and Sammie Stroughter (figuring to be our 2nd or 3rd WR) had a 53%. We have easily one of the worst group of wide-outs in the NFL and while Cornerbacks still have to respect them (they are NFL worthy) not a single defense ‘fears’ them.
4) Our offensive line was solid. Especially the left-side. However, if Freeman still has the jitters it can hardly be used as a weapon. You have to be able to trust the pocket. Freeman, many times last year, did not. I would also differ you to my rebuttal of the run-game to understand how bad our run-blocking was last year.
Lastly, 3-13 means precisely that. We have far less weapons than the teams we faced.

You did recognize the run game as a weapon ,so there is no real argument there . The wideouts are better than you described ,if not than we will need more than a deep threat in the draft . Every rookie has Jitters our pass protection is a weapon , you can’t judge our blockers by the run game cause we do not run the ball like the average team does , also we ask for our power run game to compliment what we do though the air and , according to the link you have in you comment we are ranked 13th in that department , being ranked that high makes the power run game a weapon . The only real logical argument you have is the 3rd weapon , we can agree to disagree with that one ,but the other weapons are logical weapons that truly can’t be argued with . I never said that we had a bunch of weapons , in fact I said that our list of weapons was short ,but there is no team in the league with just 1 or 2 weapons .

Running game not a weapon
We can all hope and pray that Caddy never gets hurt again, and that Ward isn’t a bust signing. We can also hope that our OL really is good even though they haven’t shown it. I think we desperately need help at RB. We need some speed and youth back there. They will only help and protect Caddy. I am a little confused with our OL. There is some talent there but year after year they disappoint. It’s time to stop the excuses and perform.
We are awful at WR. Stroughter is the only one with the ability to start in this league. The rest our number 4/5 type’s. K2 is a great pass catching TE. Great weapon for Freeman. He isn’t much of a blocker. I really think it would help to replace Stevens with a run blocking TE to offset K2.

defense. defense. defense.
Let there be no mistake. Our offense needs improvement. But I can deal with our lack of offense if our defense is making turnovers and keep ing the other teams offemse off the field.
I am a pound the football down your opponents throat kinda coach. Keep it close. Pound the ball. I miss the lightning and thunder.
I think we need to start interviewing some kickers too. Kickers that kick outside.. not indoor kickers.
Obviously we are getting Suh/McCoy… with the next 10 picks, I bet we split them down the middle (5 defensive/5 offensive). With all the free agent WR’s we have passed on.. and are still passing on.. I bet we draft them… BTW, 3 days to go baby !!!

Do you have your jerseys ready?
Have you been to the store?
Do you have your wishlist written?
Have you called your local wing place and put your order in to be ready 30 minutes before Chris Berman says St.Louis Rams… You’re on the clock?!
