Is there a good target out there for our team in free agency right now?

restricted free agents don’t count.

Been wondering about that myself, only free agents I thought bucs may have wanted a shot at got signed by ATL

by ReaderM on Mar 9, 2010 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Leigh Bodden

Domenik Hixon? Darren Sharper, haha. If we draft a safety he could teach him the ropes for his first season while Sabby is relegated to special teams. Sharper will cost $$$ though.

He can have one more year as far as I'm concerned

but he has to compete for playing time and better man plays. I dont want to guarantee him one more year

Thats where Lake comes in, he is as good a DB coach as Raheem was

but in my head I think of him as being a big meat head like “the situation” on Jersey Shore (who is coming to the venue during spring break btw) OMG!

always knew where he was supposed to be in coverage. Sabby looks lost half the time.

All this makes me wonder

That how will we feel about Sabby in the next couple of years, there is not lying that he’s was the scapegoat players for most of the fans once gaines adam ( RIP) was gone

by ReaderM on Mar 9, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

Well IMO, he only has 2010 to make a move and stand up

and your right Lee, Brooks was CONSTANTLY telling him where to line up

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan since 1979

by Niko Houllis on Mar 9, 2010 6:17 PM EST up reply actions

True

but he pretty much asked for it by being out of position all the time and letting big plays go over his head. Also taking poor angles on tackles where he completely whiffed and looked like a rank amateur.

The Saints game was one I cant get out of my mind, in the end when went high for a tackle

and he got into FG range easy. That could have cost us the game..

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan since 1979

But then he makes these plays here and there too...

Those seem to stick with me longer.

No doubt he is great on special teams

Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan since 1979

by Niko Houllis on Mar 9, 2010 6:19 PM EST up reply actions

Which is weird btw

but I guess all he has to do on special teams is run fast and then crash into somebody. It definitely takes endurance and courage, but is doubtless easier than reading coverages.

Draft Day can not get here soon enough

Seriously, has there been a more important draft for the buc in the last 20 years, I’m a younger fan, only been fan since the mid 90’s but i honestly can’t think of a draft more important then this one

by ReaderM on Mar 9, 2010 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

I agree, it is huge.

Remember how big the draft was in 05? This is 4 times.

Plus the fact its prime time, and only one round on day one!!

I think we have enough back up

The guys were have are quality back-ups but we need more guys that can produce at a starter level, i know i’m speaking something we already know but why bring in guy you know is prob only a back-up if you already have good guys who are back-ups

If I didn't have to worry about compensation

I might would say Miles Austin or Vincent Jackson. Austin is young enough to keep around, Jackson will make a QB look good by catching everything near him with his big frame.

If we are going to be looking at guys coming up to 30,

Lito Sheppard, please. There are those out there I’m sure that will say, but E-Mack’s development… E-Mack’s development. Do we know E-Mack is going to be worth a crap? No. Still don’t know. He could develop into a decent player, but I don’t want him starting at one of my corner spots. CBs can last a long time and Sheppard could certainly be around in time for this thing to turn around.

As Captain Picard would say…. make it so.

He's a nice player.... it depends on who's there at 35.

Golden Tate? Arrelious Benn? Demaryius Thomas? All of those guys have stud potential. Benn and Thomas are big, strong, physical wideouts that can fight through contact and block like hell. Tate is a greasy-fast little jitterbug…. kind of like Steve Smith, part deux.

Williams is shifty, can make guys miss, and has good speed, but he can’t block for crap and rarely makes it through initial contact.

has been spent on the draft.. I was happy to hear that they were at least in Draft meetings on the first day of free agency, at least doing something.. besides Free Agency is a long process, let’s see what happens in the 2nd wave. I’ve been happy with the work Dom has been doing so far as a GM so take that as you may

Contrary to popular belief, I am not happy with our FA situation,

But as I am more patient than most, Im ok with picking up a few guys here and there and making a splash in the draft.

Make no msitake though,
the draft MUST be a splash

There really werent that many of them.

I mean, is Peppers really something the Bucs want?
or is he someone that is going to help a team on the cusp become a playoff team or playoff team into a SuperBowl team

Robinson is the only one I was upset they didn't make a pass at

and then he went to ATL… Rolle wasn’t worth the money he wanted

it seems that everyone has a fav player they were looking fwd to.

When I heard dominik say they werent going to be players in FA. I knew what that meant.

Do I wish we would have gotten someone? sure.
remember last year? the first two FA went, and we were looking like idiots, then came the K2 trade.
That was huge, and people doubted he would be worth a damn. He was

Today I got my third letter this year from a UK newspaper asking me questions about the Glazers..

they really hate them over there. Unlike here, they are pulling money OUT OF Man U, but they think the money is going in their pockets

Though to play Devil Advocate

Look at what the Lion’s have been doing in free agency to bolster their line.. and you know if they are going to supplement that with draft picks also, as Bucs fan, I’m not going to lie I’ve been a little envious of how hard they worked to better their D-line

by ReaderM on Mar 9, 2010 8:03 PM EST reply actions

The lions moves are really interesting.

What are they going to do? are they trying to show they dont want Suh/McCoy that they want Okung?

Its so tough to know..

Look at us last year, we signed Leftwich just to throw everyone off we wanted Freeman. We almost lost Freeman to Denver.

Realistically, What do you hope the Buc's first 3 draft picks are

Personally I’m hoping for

1st Round 3rd Overall- Suh, DT Nebraska
2nd Round 35 Overall- Golden Tate, WR Notre Dame
2 Round 42 Overall – Kareem Jackson CB Alabama

I like Brandom Ghee

I go to NC State, so I def seen him up close and in person but I think Jackson is better prospect, thought wouldn’t be sad if we go Ghee

Looks like i got here too late

I was trying to find a car for my kid on ebay he wants japanese I want American so we got a bit of a conflict.

What if we grabbed a DT with our first pick...

Then drafted back to back WR with our next two. Stupid idea? I really don’t think so. We need serious at that position and it’s the only way Freeman is going to get better.
