Lets get back to enforcing some intimidation

One thing that every one forgets is why the Tampa 2 got popular and why in the glory days you could not play the physical game with the Bucs . The players we had laid the lick first and was not afraid to get hit .  But of course not every player has it in them to play that aggressive , what Tampa had that every one did not have a group of 5 players

1. Warren Sapp

2.Keyshawn Johnson

3. Mike Alstott

4.John Lynch

5. Derrick Brooks

These five Bucs were the force that put the intimidation into other teams , we were built physical but with these five we were a force . Sapp we all know the physical athletic freak of a player he was, but he made it a point to be a force in the intimidation department even when he would get interviewed he would talk about hitting somebody . Keyshawn come on man, a tightened playing wideout where you think Hines Ward got his style from , not the fastest but still put up numbers, made it a key going over the middle to make that physical catch and , would get back up from a big hit to show that he was not intimidated by a defender .This guy is so smart he could use his mouth to intimidate some players he did to a ATL db in 06 and caught the longest pass or his career . Mike " A-train " Alstott I mean thats all that should be said but by recent comments some must do not remember  about what he did during his career .DO you remember the game Warren Sapp got into it with Mike Sherman from Green Bay, if you do you should know that Alstott was the reason we won that game, he took it over tacklers were just bouncing off of him and he was running past him .  He was someone no one wanted to see I mean just practicing against our own defenders made them better cause i'm pretty sure Alstott ran them over , that was the reason John Lynch could go heads up with the Bus  . John is another guy in this group of 5, just think if you were Moss or TO even Jerry Rice when you played Tampa you were worried about going against Lynch .And speed was not an issue Marshall Faulk could not escape his wrath he would pop the mess out of him while Faulk was juking . What about Mr. Brooks ? We all know the resume he is also Mr. consistent with a great work ethic . On top of that he was also one of the reasons why Mike Vick hated playing us . Mike did not use to tell his team mates in Atlanta to get motivated for no reason no it was the fact that his speed was not a factor with us and we use to hit him in his mouth . There was 1 time when Vick tried to run and Brooks hit him at and unusual angle Vick was on the ground for a while ,the very next play Vick was in the shot gun and when he was calling for the ball his hands were shaking once the ball was snapped Brooks fired off the line like a cannon ran over TJ Ducket and hit Vick in his mouth again . Tampa now is missing some of those elements thats why I think Suh and Mays are guys that can get us back to that intimidation factor . The group of five listed were not just enforcers they had quality skill to go along with , also it made other teams respect players like Greg Spires or a guy like Nate Webster .What are some draft picks that can get us back to the days of old ?

I like Gerhart for a 4th round or later pick.

We already have those types of players, just in the growing stages

Geno Hayes is a pretty physical guy, Tanard Jackson brings the wood. Even Sabby Piscitelli is a hard hitter from the SS spot. Micheal Clayton fills the role of Keyshawn Johnson just with out the catches and the yards. Remember Keyshawn couldn’t get in the endzone to save his life during his Tampa Bay tenure. All in all, I think having a team like in the Dungy/ Rich McKay era comes down to drafting and RETAINING talent and growing that talent. Only then do you reap the rewards.

Sabby is living proof that the safety position

is about much more than simply applying the “kill shot”. Its the subtleties he struggles with.

those are just other parts of the game

its not about being a hard hitter or a physical player its about being consistent at what you do consistent enough that the opposing players fear playing you just by looking at the Bucs name on their schedule

Not true. Being known for hard hitting and physical really changes how other teams game plan.

It’s one of the reasons we’ve done so well in the past against guys like Randy Moss, Isaac Bruce, Tory Holt, Ricky Watters (chuckling). They don’t want to get hit, they hate getting hit and pull up before the ball gets to them. So yes it does matter, bringing the wood is a great thing, but they also need to wrap up too.

Stay thirsty my friends.

Just ask anybody that ever played against Kenny Easley

All the WRs knew where he was during their routes because nobody wanted to get hit by him. I suspect Ronnie Lott had the same effect. It puts that little “Oh crap, where is he?” thought into their heads, and he changes their play without doing a thing.
