Ruud tells Tampa Tribune he is frustrated by his RFA tender, but will still participate in OTAs this season.
Ruud, who missed all OTAs last season in an attempt to garner a contract extension, has announced that he will participate in every one this year. Probably a good idea because the general consensus amongst fans is that Ruud needs to step his game up, despite the fact that he finished tied for 2nd (alongside Patrick Wilis) in total tackles throughout the NFL.
Ruud went on to say that he did not regret holding out last year, and he is hoping for Tampa to land one of the two premier defensive tackles with the #3 overall pick.

Me thinks this is Ruud's last year in Tampa
Something between him, his agent and the organization seems to keep a long term deal from getting done. Not quite sure what it is. The longer we let this go, the more aggravated he gets plus, he’s racking up the stats that allows him to ask for a sweeter deal from his side of the table. If they had locked him up earlier on, they might have gotten him for 70 cents on the dollar. Now you either have to hope that A) he gets hurt and stays here on the cheap B) he doesnt have a good year and we leverage that into a deal or C) if he goes off with monster numbers that he walks, gets a big deal and tanks.
Those choices are pretty bleak.
Where is the" we make a deal that both sides can live with" option?

Uhh, Cheap owners.
/ I didn’t mean it.

I don't honestly see that as an option
If they wanted a deal we all could live with, don’t you think it would have been discussed sometime over the last 2 years? Maybe I’m being pessimistic, but the Bucs have shown zero interest in keeping him here long term. They have leveraged the original deal Ruud signed and now are using the one year tender which basically makes him cheap labor. It’s not an unwise move, but I think it probably makes Ruud a bit sour towards the team.
If we do this trade with Denver
That means we probably won’t be getting Suh or McCoy, and then if Rudd leaves whre does that leave us?

“hope” he gets hurt. i hope he has a great year and earns himself a big contract. help the bucs have a better year and for anyone that " hopes" any player gets hurt shame on you. real sub par.

Go read that again and show me where it says "I" hope he gets hurt?
I laid out a few options that would result in the team “winning” when looking at a deal. Reading comprehension please if you are going to attempt to blast me.
This is not the time for Ruud to get all high and mighty
as we have a number of high picks to replace him with. Hello Brandon Spikes…
Bring in Spikes and don't let the door hit Ruud in the behind.
He had a lot of tackles last year, but our D sure faced about the same amount of 2 down and 3 yards to go too. My Advice to Mr Ruud: Tackle closer to the line of scrimmage. ;)
HIBERNATION NATION
I'd love to snap up Spikes,
but with the 35th pick? What if he’s there, but so are some impact WRs?
Cannons... fire them.

Spikes should be there in early Round 2
so yeah… keep it up Ruud. Should be some good WRs still there too, but so will S Nate Allen, DE Corey Wootton, DE Tyson Alualu, CB Devin McCourty and lots of other strong prospects in our need positions. Still think a good WR can be found later like a Carlton Mitchell, Jordan Shipley or Mardy Gilyard.
This draft need to be all about DEF

I don't think Ruud is getting all high and mighty. The situation he is in sucks for guys who thought they would get a big payday after 5 years.
But, it’s part of being in the league. The worst part for him (and other RFA’s) is that there is a HUGE amount of injury risk and small sample risk. One bad year, one injury and it costs them a lot of money now with nothing guaranteed after this year.
