State of the Cap - Where some teams stand in regards to the uncapped year
I won't spoil the article, and it's a short one, but take a gander at where some teams stand in regards to the salary floor, you know, if there was still one in place.

Not surprising at all.
Puts things into perspective.

Just so my comments aren't taken the wrong way...Im fully aware the Bucs will probably be at the bottom of the list;
however, its too early to do this, as so much affects the cap between now and September.
Now, back to my normal brand of Optimism: Cincinnati spent least in their division, yet were the Champs. The Raiders spent the most in theirs (and the NFL pretty much) and stunk.
Redskins to no surprise were not the 2nd place team in the NFC East even though their spending would leave one to believe so, and the Seattle Seahawks were not 30% better than the Cardinals even though they spent about that much, most in that division too.
The draft figures arnt in yet (we have high picks) and as we can see, spending more money does NOT guarantee you will win more games. However, I will be happier when we are on the other side of this chart one day.

I just want the Bucs to spend a bit more so I dont ever have to talk about the Glazers being cheap again.
being cheap and not spending money because you dont have it are two different things
I know I am not cheap, but I dont spend a lot of money either because I dont have it.
You dont suddenly become cheap people. If they werent cheap people in the 90s, they arnt now either.
I watched them fly 40 players from the 79 team to tampa, put them up in hotels, to give them a 30 year anniversary. that is not cheap.
But I do understand how that misconception can start when you dont spend at least the average. Im not being a Glazer apologist, I just dont see a problem other than the one big one, buying the worlds greatest sports franchise right before a global economic downturn, and at high interest.

And that should not go without scrutiny
As it has impeded their ability to be competitive in the free agent market. Not saying they shouldve broken the bank this offseason, but it will be seen just how strapped this team is if they ignore quality free agents in favor of retreads. Time will tell.

I agree with you Niko, I don't think they are cheap. I do however believe they are sitting back waiting for the CBA to be worked out and come out after the lockout season and get some stuff done.
HIBERNATION NATION
I believe the hiring of morris was being cheap...
and the signing of Clayton and McCown was just stupid. That was ALL Dominik I am afraid, so he is more a part of the problem than the cure. However, the Glazers have granted them another year to make their statement. I hope they make a winner here, but I am VERY skeptical that they have the ability to pull it off.
We shall see, eh?

Of course spending doesn't ensure success
but hey… it can also help. There are always guys out there at some position of need at the start of free agency that can make you better, especially when you are languishing near the bottom of the NFL.

Spending less DOES mean that you will not attract the big talent
or even be able to keep the talented players you have. The days of team/player loyalties are long gone and now everybody wants their slice. The Cardinals, for example, have been pretty bad for a number of years. Then comes along Kurt Warner. His addition to a team that has been choosing early in the draft you years, finally created a winner in Arizona. Now they are suffering the same fate we did after our trip to the Superbowl. They begin to get picked over because ARI can’t afford to pay everyone the big salaries they want.
And so it goes…

The Cards had a pretty good run these last few years.
Let’s see how they do now that they have let so many players walk.

How many years were they stock piling Top 10 draft picks though
It will be interesting to see how the Cardinals do now that they are having to pay some of their players, they’ve already let 2 walk this off-season… that being said, I say that article and just sighed..
