Tampa schedules visit with Eagles' safety Sean Jones

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune is reporting that Jones, a former 2nd round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns, will visit One Buc Place tomorrow. Jones recorded 61 tackles, one sack, five pass deflections and two interceptions last year with Philadelphia.

According to Cummings, Jones is known for his run support and could be a possible candidate to take over the strong safety position next season, as Sabby Piscitelli has been deemed unable to perform at a desirable level.

As rjblitz02 reported last night in his fanshot, the Bucs are also rumored to be interested in Cleveland safety Brodney Pool, and Miami safety Gibril Wilson. A visit with these two players has yet to be confirmed.

Hey guys

Niko wanted this one to be a story with a picture of Jones, so it had to be reposted. But if you want to continue the conversation you were having in the original post, you can still find it under “Fanshots” on the sidebar.

Sorry for the inconvenience gentlemen.

I love the idea

that we are bringing safeties in…..that means we should land McCoy or Suh in the draft
atleast that is what I hope Dominik is thinking

Only problem is DE help! and more depth at CB

Anyone think it would be bad to bring a backup QB, just in case Freeman goes down?

I agree that us looking at safeties may mean bucs have a feeling Berry may not be needed. I think getting Jones would be great and I think there should be competition for SS this off season.

I think we may have something in Tim Crowder and Kyle Moore…cant wait to see these guys get more playing time next year. And i think Morris is high on EJ Biggers so i think this is why they are not rushing to bring in guys in free agency that could cost a lot and end up giving little.

I would absolutely love this pick-up.

Sean Jones was a hard hitter in his days in Cleveland when he was healthy. I’m from Ohio and my dad is a huge Browns fan. They don’t have much to boast about, but this guy has the potential to be a stud in a Tampa 2 scheme.

He is supposedly here today

so maybe they will sign him and push Sabby aside.
