Donald Penn doesn't get the respect he deserves around the league
No Buccaneer player has been voted to the Pro Bowl this season. Donald Penn says quote "this team gets no respect around the league". While most of us Buccaneer fans agree with his quote, there is not a bigger snub on the team than himself Donald Penn. Well he did get a little respect by getting voted as an alternate along with Josh Freeman and K2. The offensive tackles who got voted on the NFC Pro Bowl Team are Chad Clifton from Green Bay, Jordan Gross from Carolina, and Jason Peters from Philadelphia. This is why I think the Pro Bowl is a joke because not only should Penn be voted ahead of the those guys, but I can't think of a left tackle in the NFC who is having a better yr than him.
* As I watched the Eagles-Vikings game, I watched Jared Allen abusing Peters like he stole something. The Eagles have one of the worse offensive lines in football, it seems like Micheal Vick gets hit on every offensive snap.
I honestly think the Buffalo Bills got the better end of the trade a couple seaons ago when they traded Peters for a 1st rd pick. I cant remember Penn ever getting embaressed on national t.v. like Peters did this past Tuesday night.
* I honestly have no problem with Clifton getting in. He has been one of the better players at his postion for yrs even though he is not what he once was and he has been nicked up more recently. I still give Penn the edge.
*This is by far the biggest laughter seeing Gross getting voted in. I never knew the worse team in football can have anybody get nominated for anything. This is clearly a vote based on reputation and not on production this yr. He has been a good player in the past but he has not had a good yr as the rest of the team especially the offensive line. Think back in September in 20-7 win in Carolina when Styles White beat him for a sack and put pressure on him a few other plays. If records don't matter than Penn should've got voted last yr in my opinion as he played like a top 10 player at the position despite our 3-13 record.
According to a blog from NFC South Blogger Pat Yasinkas, Penn has only giving up 3 sacks, has 1 false start, and 1 offensive holding. I was skeptical of the contract Mark Domanik gave Penn, but so far he has played like a franchise left tackle along with getting paid like one. Thanks to him Freeman doesn't have to worry about his blindside when he drops back in the pocket. I think we would probably have seen disaster results if Domanik didn't swallow his pride and paid Penn the money he has been threatning to hold out for all offseason.
From the day back in 2007 when we defeated Carolina 20-7, it seemed like we found a diamond in the rough when Penn took over for the injured Luke Petitgout. He has not miss a start since the following game in a 33-14 loss to Indianapolis. This Sunday in the season finale in New Orleans, he will be making his 61st consecutive start including the playoffs. During those games Freeman, Josh Johnson, Byron Leftwich, Jeff Garcia, Brian Griese, and Luke McCown had one less thing to worry about as their blindside was being protected most of the time. From a kid from Utah State we found on the practice squad to a franchise left tackle, Penn had a nice long journey to the NFL. After having his worse season by his standards last yr while he was reported in training camp out of shape, to the war of words between him and Domanik and threatening to hold out all training camp this yr, Penn has redeemed himself nicely and has backed up his talk and his contract with his strong play this whole season. He is officially considered a franchise left tackle and it is one less thing we have to worry about going into this offseason.
Let me know what you guys think. Is Penn disrespected around the league by being snubbed from the Pro Bowl?

I hate to tell you
But the way the pro bowl works is that it is always a year or two late, and players at the end of their career get in once or twice because they have been a pro bowler previous.
Getting the probowl is more about coverage than skill.
As long as Penn keeps up the great work he will eventually get in the pro-bowl. I’ve come to accept the fact that the Buccaneers have no national weight and won’t till we make the playoffs a couple years in a row.
yeah we are not an appealing team to the casual football fans
it is a shame because we got some young stars on the team but until we start winning consistantly these guys will continue to go unnoticed… us fans gotta show more support and fill up the stadium at our home games also
Paul Gruber represented the Bucs in the Pro Bowl...
so it has something to do with skill. Whether you agree with the 2010 selections or not, in my opinion, Penn is not an elite OT.
True it does have something to do with skill.....However, in your opinion everyone on the Bucs sucks...
Joking BTW…. But in all seriousness, Penn probably isn’t the best OT in the NFC, I agree with that. Elite? Maybe, maybe not….Better then at least one of the OT’s that made the Pro Bowl? No doubt… However, whether you like it or not, the Pro Bowl is popularity first & talent second. No way you can deny that.

I would say he is a Top 5 OT in the NFC...
but I have not really seen much of the other selections, so I can’t say Penn should beat them out for a Pro Bowl spot. If Talib would have remained healthy, I have no doubt he would have made it to the Pro Bowl. Aside from him, not sure anyone else deserves it.
If someone on the Bucs roster sucks, I don’t have any fear saying it out loud.

I really think Blount may have also deserved a Pro Bowl vote.
Since week 8, only Jamaal Charles has more rushing yards than Blount. That would mean that Blount has the most rushing yards and the highest yards per carry average in the NFC since week 8. And let’s not forget that he didn’t even start until week 11.
Missed too many games for a Pro Bowl vote, in my opinion
I know some other guys got in while missing games (Mankins, O’Hara), but I disagree with those selections too.
I look forward to the days where NE will suck like they used to.
Fans have way too much say when it comes to pro bowls, rookie of the week and so on, just too many band wagon fans out there.
I'm not negative, I'm just telling you how it is.
he is a top 10 player at his position
he may not be Orlando Pace in his prime but he has played better than most left tackles in the league maybe it is due to the lack of dominate players at the position but we can’t fault Penn for that…we gotta remember outside qbs that position is the most demanding position on offense and going against some pretty good pass rushers in our division he has held his own not bad for a undrafted guy we found off the practice squad
Penn is not an elite LT in the mold of Joe Thomas or Jake Long
But he’s a top 3 LT in the NFC right now.
Top 3 is a stretch,
If on his game, Top 5 is better.
who would of thought we would be arguably the greatest of all time
around here we developed such a sound down here
but duplicate it off the steel it can only be found here
thats what i wish he would stop doing, bragging about how he deserves to be in the pro bowl, just shut up and play and if your really great just let your play do the talking
