Congratulations, Roddy White. You Have Been Hooked.

With Sunday's titanic NFC South tilt coming up on Sunday, not everyone is talking about the battle of rising star QBs and their developing connections with their stud #1 WRs.  Not everyone is talking about the physicality of the Atlanta offensive line and running game.....or the budding prospects of all-around runner LeGarrette Blount and the spark of physicality he's brought this Buccaneer offense. Not everyone is talking about the fearsome presence of John Abraham for the Atlanta defense, or the opportunistic Buccaneer defense that has changed several games with impact plays.

Well, to be fair, a lot of people are talking about all of these things.  Atlanta Falcons' Roddy White is not necessarily one of them.

Yes.....while most players spew out cliches and overvalued praise of an upcoming opponent or player in an attempt to avoid giving bulletin board material, Roddy White has instead chosen to focus on Raheem Morris' comments about the Buccaneers being the best team in the NFC, which has apparently been a burr in his backside.  Although Morris didn't aim his comments directly at the Saints, Falcons, or anyone else, White took a more direct approach:

"Their coach is digging them a big hole, saying that stuff, man," Falcons wideout Roddy White told FanHouse. "Best team in NFC? C'mon. They lost to New Orleans -- bad. And they still have to play us. It looks like they got a pretty good quarterback down there, but he ain't no Matt Ryan.  The defense is creating turnovers and all that. That's cool. But we feel as though we're going to be ready and prepared."

Forget the obvious fact that Raheem's words will be meaningless come game time.  I'm aware you've torched opposing defenses and will be a tall task for Talib and whatever help he gets on Sunday.  However, be advised, Mr. White.....this team has been continually doubted and criticized by local media, by national media....hell, even by its own fans....and this is while the team's been winning.  That quarterback you said was no Matt Ryan?  Josh Freeman's seven 4th qtr/OT come-from-behind drives (six that resulted in wins) in 16 starts going back to last year, along with his team-first attitude, have taken his play and his confidence to another level than what you saw last time, my man.  This team has taken the us-against-the-world mentality when it steps onto an opponents turf and has found another gear and played like its collective hair was on fire. If anything, your words are just another log that Raheem and company will quietly throw into the Fire of Doubt that's been burning in the locker room since training camp.

Thanks for the extra fuel, RW.
