There isn't much to go on right now, but apparently Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers young stud receiver was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of DUI. I first heard this on 620 WDAE on my way into work and was shocked. Over the last half hour, some other details have come out. His BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) was under the legal limit, which makes the arrest a little surprising. I'm no expert on these cases, but it would seem something else was in play. Maybe he got a little lippy with the officer, but either way, I'm not sure I understand taking someone to the pokey when they are under the limit.
Will have more details as they come out. I would imagine he is still playing on Sunday, though he may not start.
Update #1 (8:04 A.M.): I was able to track down the Arrest Report. He blew .065 and .061 with the legal limit being .08. Lets hope its just a case of an overzealous officer or one who wanted to make sure Williams stayed safe so he could play on Sunday.
Update #2 (845 A.M.): Per Stephen Holder's Twitter Account: "There's a urine test pending which the cops do if they suspect someone is impaired by something OTHER than alcohol."
Update #3 (8:53 A.M.): Per ProFootballTalk.Com, Williams has been released from custody.
Update #4 (11:58 A.M.) There are conflicting reports about whether Williams will play. Different Bucs officials say different things. When we know for certain we will update this. Also, ESPN is reporting he has been charged and released on bail. This is standard. If the tox results come back in 5 weeks and are negative, the charges are dismissed. If not, a warrant is put out for his arrest. Likely, there will be no more news until that test result comes back.
Update #5 (1:18 P.M.) According to Adam Schefter, Mike Williams will start against the 49ers.
