Vince Wilfork

Per Rotoworld:

Free agent NT Vince Wilfork said Thursday that playing for either Miami or Tampa Bay would be a "dream come true."

Wilfork went to the University of Miami, so playing in Florida would be a homecoming. It's an unlikely scenario, however, as the Pats will slap him with the franchise tag if they can't come to an agreement on a long-term deal. Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

What would you guys think of bringing him in to fill the DT position?  I believe he could instantly help the line and we should jump at this, however, Morris seems to like younger guys.

Hell to the yeah! Sign em if it doesn't cost too much...

Question is can he adjust to Raheem’s 4-3 Defense. I think he played 4-3 with the Hurricanes right? But I just think this draft is too good to give up picks. If the Pats would take a future draft pick I’d say sign Wilfork ASAP

hmmmm

Yeah he played in a 4-3 at the U. I think he would need to lose some weight to play in a 4-3…I dont know. Unless it was a 6th round pick or higher then I would say no to it. He would eat up a bunch of space in the middle and could teach our younger DT’s a thing or two.

From what I have read....

The Franchise Tag has already been slapped on him. So I don’t see that happening.

Franchise tags can be overcome with trades

Wilfork is a beast – And I’d love to see him come to Tampa.
I wonder if a deal can be worked out for next year’s first rounder…

I wouldn't trade our 2011 first round pick for him

There is a good chance that it would end up being a Top 10 pick.

Amazing how there aren't a ton of "he won't fit our system" yet.

As any other player, they can adapt. Would still be a huge upgrade.

Hes very athletic, I think he would be a great fit.

Then we could take Berry with the 3, and then we have two seconds to take a corner and a wideout.

Look at what has happened when we have brought Flordia natives home, Antonio Bryant – great year (the first year), Phillip Buchanon – best years of his career and Kellen Winslow Jr – is having a career rebirth.

These guys love to come home to Flordia, so think when possible we need to bring those guys home. That includes Marshall (UCF), Boldin (Fl. St.) and Portis (Miami).

I mention Portis because he and Shanahan dont see eye to eye, and I think we could move Ward to the Skins for him. Ward would be great in Shanahans system. While Portis would benefit from sharing the load with Caddy.

I'd take Wilfork and still hope Suh or McCoy drops to us and take him. Then secondary can be fixed with a later pick.

Portis is a bit too old to bring in, always hurt.

I knew it

I knew Berry was goign to drop out of the sky some where… I agree with bucnut… I would go get Wilfolk and Suh or McCoy which would solidify our run defense and then go get someone to fix our secondary issues in the later rounds in the draft… The Pat’s could always use a running back and the last time we check we had a couple to spare… I would never trade for Portis at this point in his career I would rather bring Warrick Dunn back then trade for Portis…. I love him a few years ago but he doesnt have it anyone…. Al those different personalities ahve worn him down… He is too quick to attack his team mate when this dont go his way…. leave him in Happy Fun Valleyville

I heart Vince Wilfork

Can you imagine how improved our run defense would be with him in the game? He could singlehandedly improve our defense. I would give up a 2nd rounder for him in trade, but not first.

Pats would kill you-

They always look for 2nd rounders. Maybe a 2nd and 4th is a better option.

Official head of the Eric Berry bandwagon.

I would prefer Marcus Stroud of Buffalo...

… as the Bills are making the switch to a 3-4 and he has made some comments about his ability or desire to play NT. A big run stopper at a relatively cheap price.
