IF YA DONT LIKE IT BUC OFF

I am really getting sick and tired of all this bitching and crying. What did u think was going to happen we would win the Superbowl right out the gate? its been 2 games calm down, breath, relax i mean it took Dungy 7 games to get a win and if our owners were soo cheap why did we not keep Gruden we r still paying him.

Star-divide

Come on Tampa Bay when did we get spoiled? to be honest i never really liked phillips if he was soo good why did we want him to be a LB? Do u think they would have ever  told Lynch gain weight and play LB? the problem aganist the Bills was flags.

so chill out drink a beer watch the game and enjoy football, win or lose this is my favorite time of year. quit about what we should of done o well we didn't get over it, and enough about next season

and now that i read this man i hopped around, well it makes just as much sense as writing the bucs off week 2!!

GO BUCS KILL THE GIANTS  btw sabby is second in tackles on the team

I agree with you...

I find the lack of opitism a little disheartening…It is making us look like bad fans. Sesiously if you were expecting to dominate this season, then you are rooting for the wrong team. I would hate to see if you guys that are all doom and gloom were Lions fans…. Yes we are sucking right now, it WILL get better, but if you are flipping your lid after 2 losses, you better find a new team to root for because you could go crazy by the end of the season!

Amen

Let’s concentrate on the potiential for future years to come. We all know by now what the problems are, no need to run them into the ground. that’s why I stopped harping on Leftwich.

Go Bucs!

Don't mistake my criticism for long term pessimism

This team will have a tough year, we all knew it. It can get better but it’s a long term plan, not a 6 game plan. So while I might be down on them now and see flaws, it doesn’t mean I’ve given up on the team. Now, if they don’t start fixing the issues, then we have problems.

There was a lot more wrong than just penalties.

Also, Sabby being 2nd in tackles isn’t a great barometer of how he is playing.

Sabby being #2 in tackles means....

Our defensive line isn’t doing there job. DLs contain, LBs finish, and DBs backup. Alot of backing up going on. Not good!

THANK YOU

I’ve been too lazy to write something like this. But seriously Tampa Bay, why don’t we be real fans, and root for our team? I remember going 4-12, 5-11 n last year’s downfall of 9-7. WE HAVE OUR UPS AND DOWNS. Support your team.
Tampa isn’t a sports state, and it’s hard to find a real Bucs fan.
Do me a favor, grow a pair, and DEAL with it. It’s the game that the PLAYERS play. WE have nothing to do with it. Sure, we can cheer them on, and talk about it, but I’m finding more bit%#ing and whining than i am finding optimism.
IMO, i find it very annoying.
Please, for the whiners…grow a pair.

Supporting your team

does not consist of cheering their failures.

it's really getting rediculous

even when the GruAllen era was in effect, we had our good and bad seasons, but as a die-hard (true) Buc’s fan, i have to say this is the most pathetic our fan base has sounded in recent years. I say recent because I’ve only been following football since the 2003 season. I was on the Buc’s bandwagon after we won the Superbowl, but slowly and surely became a huge fan, and a true follower.
Atleast show some optimism. I know some ignorant readers are going to see this comment, and put some post like, ‘our defense sucks’, but when you look at the big picture, we’re not THAT bad. We don’t live in Detroit or Oakland, but it sure sounds like we do.
How bout we try and give our fanbase a good name…
GO BUCS!!!

We don't have a maniacal owner

or 37 First Round WR’s on our team, but I’m not sure how you can say we aren’t that bad. We are. Especially our defense.

I am not trying to give our fan-base a bad name, but to educate them and make them intelligent fans instead of blindly cheering on our failures of the last 2 seasons. Does that make you a ‘real fan’ or an ignorant one?

you're right.

“I am not trying to give our fan-base a bad name, but to educate them and make them intelligent fans instead of blindly cheering on our failures of the last 2 seasons. Does that make you a ‘real fan’ or an ignorant one?” Great point man!

To me, it’s just all over the place i see negativity. I was just ranting above.
I mean, i would say I am a ‘real fan’. I follow the team everywhere i go. What i was trying to say, was that I have been hearing people whining so much. I’m not saying i disagree with them, it’s just ‘too much’ of it recently. If you feel me.

I’m not necessarily ‘cheering our failures’. I really don’t think our team is going anywhere. Our defense is in trouble, and our injuries are piling sky-high. BUT ever since this offseason, our fans really seemed to have dropped. I guess the whole ‘season ticket’ sales and whatnot are getting to me.
I just wish we had a football town :( Or atleast some more ‘fans’. To me, a fan is someone who looks ahead with optimism, and follows their team every step of the way, no matter how bad the failure lol. Well anyways UNFOLE, i was just wondering what you think it means to be a ‘real fan’? Don’t mean to sound rude or anything ;) just wondering.
It’s a great idea to educate and make them intelligent fans. Thank you for that, opened up another window over here.

Go Bucs!!!!

Tampa isnt a sports state

Your right the Tampa Bay area is terrible with our local teams. I wouldnt count them as non Buc fans though. So theres a lot of complaining and whining. Every Sports team has those fans. If we didnt have those fans with high expectations then I would say thats a bad thing. When a fan base starts to accept losing then you know your going in the wrong direction. EXAMPLE-Lions, Pirates, Clippers…The Bucs before Dungy turned it around.

It's not complaining and whining

when you are discussing team weakness and talking about reality. Would you rather us pretend those do not exist?

I was just using the words

the author of this post used. It depends on who you are asking, if your extremely optomistic person who justs likes to enjoy the game then they might consider it complaining. Obviously if your pointing out they gave up so and so and they need to do better so that doesnt happen again, thats not complaining. But saying things like the reason the Bucs suck is becuase so and so, I think that could be deabtable to what some may call discussing or complaining.

by Hook85 on Sep 26, 2009 12:11 AM EDT up reply actions

Well our goal at Buc 'Em

is to provide honest and real information on the Bucs. If that sounds like whining, so be it. We have a couple of optimists on our squad (Niko specifically) but that isn’t going to stop us from telling you the truth. We all see plenty of things to be hopeful for.

Thanks for making it clearer for some....

I flew out from California for the season opener. Thats the kind of fan I am. Two weeks in and lot’s of people are crying and ready for a mutiny. Listen… A new Coach, a new offense, a new defense. Morris is the coach not Jesus. Even if Jesus was the coach it took a while for him to get people to listen. He didn’t fly out of the gate saying,“I’m the son of God. Check out this gimmick I’ve got for you….” While many balked, it took awhile to weed out the true fans. Be one. Enjoy watching the games. I don’t collect a paycheck from the team so I hate the term “we” in refering to what happens on the field. The “we” is us as fans. They entertain us. Give us something to talk about. Someone to root for. Something to hope for. Faith in the Buc’s may as well be a religion. I am a member of the congregation. Join me and the many others as we hope to awaken to a new and promising hope for the direction the team is hopefully going. And relax. Enjoy it. It can only get brighter……

Finally!!!

Yes! I’ve been waiting for someone to post this kind of blog. This will get better just liek it did in the 96’ season. As a kid I remember watching them and thinking we will get better a we won like 5 out of 6 games later that year.

by bucsfan4life on Sep 25, 2009 2:21 AM EDT reply actions

1996 is no 2009

Tony Dungy had been the Defensive Coordinator for the Minnesota Vikings for years and overlooked for jobs moving up to Head Coach.

Raheem Morris was never a coordinator before, let alone a head coach… So lets take that as an opening argument against arguing 2009=1996.

Secondly, the 1996 team was mixed with veteran talent and young talent at the same time. 2009, lest you forget the Bucs decided to purge themselves of most all versed veteran talent that had been part of winning for this franchise (sans Ronde Barber) and focused on giving the full reins of the franchise to middling talent that had been gestating under Jon Gruden.

Those who want to compare Ronde Barber to Hardy Nickerson in that both could be looked at as in the same role… well, while Ronde can sack the QB on a CB Blitz, he’s getting beat repeatedly on assignments in the backfield. That’s been a truth for at least a season (and it’s sad to admit that because I like Barber). Nickerson was not only contributing at Linebacker but helping bring along a young former collegiate star named Derrick Brooks.

Unlike 1996, there isn’t a young nucleus of standouts to build around… It’s a young nucleus, period.

Last but not least: The Bucs didn’t change offensive coordinators until 1999 under Tony Dungy’s watch. Mike Shula’s simple offense jelled in 1996 and was used (and loathed by some fans) for three seasons before his ouster. Lest we forget, Morris has already fired his OC (who had more coaching experience than his head coach) because of a thin playbook. The OC also had a record of bringing along QB standouts.

…and Morris is all about Josh Freeman as the future of the franchise. Who is he supposed to look up to now? Leftwich?

This team is closer to 1989 than 1996. You can believe things will turn around, but for this fan the promise of past seasons and the hope of thing sturning around is just absent. I don’t care for the direction the team is heading in…. It’s not just about the winning and losing but the hope. Oh, hope’s around when the Bucs win, you may say… But for me, the hope’s been missing for a while with thanks to middling choices and the win-now attitude employed from 2004 on.

This is not the 1996 Bucs. Don’t make that comparison. Don’t lose hope or enthusiasm — that’s no crime… Just don’t compare apples to oranges.

To strive, to seek, to find, and to forever keep it Raw. Raw Charge.

Wow I can agree with Sandy

That is right, no comparison could be close. If we would have kept Brooks to be the defensive leader until more talent had been established, we could have been better for the future.

by buccanator on Sep 28, 2009 1:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Fans will be fans

be thankfull that the Bucs are good enough to have fans who expect winning every year. Before 96’ nobody cared, at least there are fans showing support, even if its whining. If they are still putting their butts in the seats, they have right to bitch. Even if they are annoying, im sure they think the overly optomistic fans are annoying.

although if you give up on the Bucs and say your no longer a fan and arnt going to any games then you have no right to talk and should shut your mouth.

by Hook85 on Sep 25, 2009 10:04 PM EDT reply actions

NICE JOB!

Couldnt agree more! Lets watch this team grow and get better. Lets watch Sabby, Geno, Quincy, all grow up before our eyes.

I HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE BEGINNING. IF YOU CAN NOT ACCEPT LOOSING, YOU ARE NOT A BUCS FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stop complaining and go cheer for whoever is winning right now.

A true bucs fan will hope and pray that we can win a least on game this year.

What is complaining?

Pointing out the failures?

I don’t think anyone is cheering for us to lose…We don’t want to have to overpay the first pick in the draft.
