I have to set everything straight with everyone

I dont like the freeman pick as most of us dont but guys, hes a buc now, give him support dont talk down on him or the pick. Whats it gonna help that were talkin about a rookie that hasnt played a down in the NFL yet? They cant go back and pick over no matter how much we want them to. If the pick dosent work out it'll probably cost Morris and Domnik there jobs its their careers on the line not ours. If they were willing to make that pick and have the balls to put there necks out on the lineto get there guy like that im willing to follow them. Also i dont know if youve heard of him before but we got this offensive coordinator his names jeff jagodzinski and hes got a way with qbs. he works with raw talent and makes them pretty decent qbs. Now that he is a buc give him your support and lay off the critique on how terrible the pick was. Admittedly I was a little steamed and said some stupid things as he was being selected. However, now that i've had time to think about it theres nothing we can do but hope for the best. All you guys who are complaining about oh this was an aweful pick oh hes gonna be a total bust like i was right after he was picked are gonna feel like dumbasses if he turns out to be a good qb. Thats all im sayin I guess is just let him do his thing until he proves he can or cant play ball for us.

Dude...

…appreciate the thoughts and I actually agree that he hasn’t played a down yet, so we really don’t know what we have. We can only go on what we know. But can you please, PLEASE use some more punctuation. It’s really hard to follow when you just type the whole thing out like that and if it’s hard to get through, most people won’t read it. You have some good thoughts man. Now just get it so everyone wants to take the time to go through them.

And as for feeling like a dumbass...

…sorry, but I won’t. I’m entitled to the opinion I have and I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong if I am. But I won’t feel stupid about it. I haven’t been 100% right about every opinion I’ve ever had, but I’m not going to feel like a dumbass just because it wasn’t right. If Freeman does work out, then I’ll be happy because it means the Bucs are doing well, despite what I think of the pick now.

Yeah but the way you say it is Different from the others

I think he means the people who say he will never be anything and sucks. basically the ones that don’t care.

I get it...

…I just think it’s good for us to all have different opinions on this. It’s what brings good discussions to the table. If we all drank the Pewter and Red juice and thought everything was hunky dory (I can’t believe I just used that saying…I must be getting old) than this would be one boring forum for us to all frequent. Good, healthy debate is good for all of us.

True

But deep down inside we all want the same outcome for the Buc’s. Superbowl. lmao

by Maxumas on Apr 27, 2009 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly my point...

…and we can all voice our opinions on what we think will get them there. That’s why we’re all here. To talk the Bucs and to give our thoughts. If we all fall back on the “I won’t say anything because we need to wait to see what happens” well then we might as well all shut up until the season starts. Haha. Just kidding.

The Bull Gator- if you say you hate the pick now, then how can you just switch if he turns out good? If you hate the pick ,you are giving up on him whether he does good or not. For example, if i like the pick and he turns out bad, i cant just say, well i wasn’t 100 percent sure anyway..i would simply be wrong and thats it.

by ClipperMyth on Apr 27, 2009 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I never said I would just switch.

I said I personally don’t like the pick but I hope I’m wrong because if I’m wrong then the Bucs do well. I’m not a GM or Coach (none of us are) so I’m just venturing a guess on whether I think he will go good or not. My opinion is that based on what I saw of him in college that I don’t like the pick. If he turns out good and I’m wrong, I will gladly admit it. I’ve said that numerous times. I’d never say “oh he’s good now, well I always sorta thought he would be I just never said it to you guys.” I will flat out say “he’s good now which is good for the Bucs, boy am I glad I was wrong about that one.” I’ve been wrong before and never been afraid to admit it.

I read the Whole thing because it was Dedman. lmao

I remeber when we argued about Percy Harvin and Josh Freeman. and i’m glad he is saying things a bit my way now. lol I have Supported Josh Freeman this Whole Draft and Columbine even thou i was hoping we drafted a Defensive player. If we were to go Offensive (Which we Did) this would have been my pick.

by Maxumas on Apr 27, 2009 5:33 PM EDT reply actions

I think I'm with you..

If we would’ve drafted any other offensive player, it would probably be a worse feeling of disgust. Honestly, we really didn’t NEED any offensive players in the draft and that actually should be credit to the Mark and Raheem. They got a new receiving TE, RB and QB in free agency. There really isn’t any holes offensively.

The only true hole offensively, would’ve been franchise QB and I suppose we got that on Saturday. So if we can get Bryant signed to a multi-year deal then our offense will look amazing for years to come (some credit goes to GruAllen but good portion to Mark and Raheem).

The defense isn’t necessarily horrible either. We have ? marks at LB not because of lack of depth but because they were young and hidden behind Brooks. Ruud was also a question 2 years ago. The biggest need defensively was depth and we did get that too.

Now I hope we go and sign Jason Taylor for a year. We do need to help our pass rush.

It is already done...

I have not held back my feeling of him either on here. It is a way to vent and express your opinion and get it out of your system all at the same time. My opinion of him hasn’t changed and probably won’t until he earns the respect ( if he ever does) of the purpose and situation in which he was Drafted. It is not his fault or a knock on him as a person but for me it is all more fueled by the Bucs organization and constant screwing up at the QB position year after year, they already had 4 QBS signed ( which if they aren’t worthy in the eyes of the BUCs THEN CUT THEM); We all know that they aren’t going to carry 5 QBS which 3 of have all been signed in the last few months and seemingly just handing money to at this point, The wholes that were created in defense by releasing Brooks and June were not addressed in the first round, and I just felt that their were so many more better players available than him that were past up. I have tried to get as much info. on him that I could to try and see what Morris and the bucs see in him and I haven’t seen it yet. That is the thing about opinions, Not everyone has the same one.

by Tye on Apr 27, 2009 6:22 PM EDT reply actions

my whole point though is that

you just dont know why talk shit about him till you actually see him play you cant call the bucs stupid for making the pick until you see him play the bucs will look like geniouses if he turns out to be the player there sayin they think he can be

And your right about that but...

You can not go and crown him or the Bucs for what transpired. In my opinion, in my eyes, my mind, however you want to say it, I have seen many QBs far better than him as far as college careers go come out of the draft with such high expectations and fail horribly. Many of them of all positions were QBs. Their are rare situations were great players are found in late rounds or even undrafted; Tom Brady is an example so it is difficult to truly distinguish the good from the bad at draft. The story as it pretains to Freeman has not been written yet so no one can say either way for sure but that doesn’t change how any of us feel about the situation as it stands right now today. He is a QB we all know that but to say he is worthy of Franchise status; as a fan that seriously worries me about the future of this team. I can not say it enough though. It is an opinion!!!

True but

It also goes the other way around. i have seen Players that did great in College and even got the Heisman Trophy and Didn’t do Jack in the NFL.

by Maxumas on Apr 27, 2009 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions

look my buc brothers

i grade our draft as a B. i agree with the freeman pick i believe he has the potential to be the next big ben! ( enough said). now in terms of defense we did good, miller from texas is a beast! he actually should have gone in the mid to late 2nd round, we were fortunate to get him in the 3rd. he is the 2nd best DTin the draft! behind gage and more powerful and physically stronger than jerry and quicker than hood.and in terms of DE i was hoping we could have got johnson but moore from usc is solid as a 4th round pick, hes quick to the ball and attacks the run very well. although a bit slow of the line. 1 believe we got 2 great picks in freeman and miller and a good pick in moore.

by BUCABING on Apr 27, 2009 11:53 PM EDT reply actions

I agree....

I graded this draft a B as well, I was not totally on board with the Freeman pick, however, if he is what they think he is then it is a great pick. I think the rest of the draft we done really well…So basically, this post could have ended with I agree…LOL

by RuudAwakening on Apr 28, 2009 12:35 AM EDT up reply actions

Stop comparing

Freeman to big ben already, he has the physicals but he doesn’t have the team like big ben does. Stop dissing Big ben. Freeman is Freeman, and Big ben in big ben.

I think we can all agree

that we want Freeman to succeed. Most of us were against the pick, but now that we have him are looking at the positives more than the negatives.

We have drafted so many Franchise QBs that come with the CANT MISS sticker, and then Bust. Well this was One is getting a CANT MAKE IT review!! So maybe…..

..and with the 17th Pick of the 2009 draft, The Tampa Bay Buccaneers remove the Doug Williams Curse!

by Niko Houllis on Apr 28, 2009 2:33 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

+1

Exactly! Just because I didn’t agree with the pick doesn’t mean I don’t want him to do well. I don’t have some sadistic nature that I want him to do bad just because I didn’t agree with taking him. I want to be proved wrong. If he comes out and does great, then awesome. We’ll see.

Same here

I too was against the pick. Why? Because we already were loaded ( or so it seemed) at the QB position. There were many of holes, many the new regime created by releasing Brooks and June and others, that I felt needed filled with first round quality players. Also The Bucs have had their share of Busts over the years so why draft a guy that so many people seem to agree has more of a chance to be a bust or at least not worthy of a 1st round pick. That does not mean I am wanting or have some desire to see the kid fail. I am a Bucs Fan and have been for so long. The Bucs are far bigger than just one person and one person can not do it alone. The main thing is that the Bucs get no respect or much love from other teams as it is and if this turns out badly when it is all said and done than this will just be more added negativity to the franchise’s name or credability that could have been avoided by any other pick. If the kid proves to be a winner than Hallelujah.
