Could the Bucs be Bringing Jerramy Stevens Back?

Despite the recent acquisition of Kellen Winslow, the Bucs may be close to resigning tight end Jerramy Stevens. Although many aren't fans of his past transgressions, Stevens seemed to keep his nose relatively clean while with the Bucs and managed to be together a decent 2008 season for Tampa Bay.

However, if he returns, the tight end situation would get interesting. Surely it would mean the end for either Alex Smith or John Gilmore, as the Bucs are highly unlikely to carry four tight ends on the roster. I, for one, was just warming up to the idea of a group including Winslow, Smith, and Gilmore. If Stevens comes back, does this mean we'll see Winslow split out more? Maybe. Time will tell.

I still think the

Winslow trade was a huge waste of a draft pick if you are going to do Tight End by committee anyway.

I get the feeling...

…Winslow will be playing less of a tradition TE role. At least I hope, because if not, it’s really hard to figure out what’s going on.

Which still makes it curious why we paid Clayton

25 mil over 5 years then. Maybe there is no rhyme and reason to Dominik (maybe we are giving him too much credit?) What if he just want’s Winslow’s name?

I also don’t know that Coach Jags has ever done anything like that (not to say that he can’t). He either has a traditional Tight End in more traditional WR’s.

…maybe we aren’t giving him enough. After all, we are just fans and he did get to his position because he at least did something right. Maybe although we feel we are currently in bizzaro world, it’ll actually all work out and things are going exactly as played. One can dream.

this could also put

Alex Smith on the trade block and in turn net us a draft pick. Surely they won’t start the season with 4 tight ends, 3 of which specialize in receiving the ball… then again, like Joel said, I can see this team putting Kellen out wide utilizing his match-up problems for defenses…

I like Stevens....problems or not....

Bryant…..Clayton…..Winslow(like Colston)…..with Stevens and Gilmore(blocking)……best receiving group we have had in awhile ….ofcourse…..McCardell….Johnson……Jurivicious…..Dilger…is the best
