Does Eric Berry put the Buccaneers back on track?

Alot of insiders are claiming our Buccaneers are truly interested in Eric Berry.

While you cant contend that the youngster has talent, with a pick so high should we be looking at filling our most glaring need, DT.

I am a firm believer that the best secondaries in the league have great DT's to pressure the QB. You cant think about Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, Darren Sharper, Bob Sanders (when healthy), without also thinking about the great pass rush generated by their D-Line. If we take Eric Berry with our top five pick, it then becomes a necessity to grab an experienced DT in free agency.

Does anyone know of any DT's who may be available to us in FA. Or can anyone in the forum make a case for a impact DT in the draft that may fall to us with one of our second round picks. If not I truly believe we have to take a DT with our 1st round pick. Suh will most undoubtedly be gone, but people are excited of McCoy out of Oklahoma, there is Price out of UCLA. All first round projections.

I would just hate for us to take Eric Berry and have him end up like Michael Huff out of Texas. Anyone remember him??? If you dont, he was a highly touted Safety coming out of Texas a few years back. No one really remembers he is in the league anymore and I dont believe its because he lost his talent but the Oakland Raiders cant produce the pass rush necessary for him to use his play making abilities. Look at what Sedrick Ellis is doing for Darren Sharper (along with the rest of the Saints D-Line). He looks reborn again.

Point being made. Its possible that Eric Berry could be the second coming of Ed Reed. But its even more possible that if we dont produce a consistent formidable pass rush he will never reach his potential.I believe we need a top end DT more than we need a safety.

What do you guys think???
