Ask The Falcoholic!

Little late in the season for our first game, isn't it?

It's been an odd season for both of our beloved teams, and my pre-season prediction that you'd be a big factor in the divisional race hasn't come true...yet. Still some time, of course.

But that's not why I'm here. I'm hoping to answer any questions you have about the Falcons. Wondering why Matt Ryan has had such a roller coaster of a season? Wondering why Michael Turner is out? Just who is this Brent Grimes? Fire away, and I'll be happy to answer your questions.

And if you don't mind, please Recommend this so it stays near the top of the list for those with questions. Here's to a good game.

Question

Are you (falcons fans) happy with the perfomance of Jason Snelling in the absence of Michael turner? Is he a viable #2 back for the future?

If he wasn't so similar to Turner, I'd say yes

As it is, he’s a great back to have when you don’t have Turner. He just isn’t a great complement to him.

Another Question

I have read that your secondary has been porous the past couple of weeks as in not being able to stop anybody- from having a great game by passing against you guys. Are injuries the only problem or is it something else?

We lost Brian Williams for the season

But our problems go much, much deeper than that. We have a lot of young corners, but none are true #1s. We also have the little issue of a poor pass rush, which makes them look even worse.

So by your comment,

Is Atlanta looking for a possible Cornerback in the draft next year?

I think it needs to be our top priority

Either that or a free agent. If everyone currently on the team was bumped down the depth chart by one spot, we’d have a very talented set of corners.

I don't really have a question about the upcoming game

so much as a question regarding the Falcon’s running game. Is Norwood going to see the field any time soon? How serious is Michael Turner’s injury? From a fantasy perspective would it be worth trading for Norwood for a playoff run? Has Snelling taken the #2 spot from Norwood if all three backs were healthy?

Norwood should be back against you guys, even on a limited basis

Snelling is clearly the starting back and Norwood will get some carries, and Turner could be out another three weeks. I’d recommend Turner over Norwood in fantasy play.

I am in Atlanta.

Any free tickets to this weeks game? I mean, honestly, who wants to see the sorry display of football that the Bucs put on.

After this past week

How much do you hate the NFL Overtime rules? The Home Team wins 51% of the time. The team that wins the coin-toss wins 63% of the time (that is very significant).

Atlanta looked like the better team late in the game, yet had to leave the game to be decided by your relative weakness.

I think it's generally not the fairest way to do things

I realize it would stretch games out, but I’d prefer something closer to college football, where each team gets their chance to score.

Your current situation with Jamaal Anderson

is worse than our past situation with Gaines Adams, at least at Defensive End. How has he faired since being switched to the inside? While we were fortunate to be compensated a 2nd round pick in ’10 for Adams, what is your contingency plan for Anderson?

by Danny180 on Nov 24, 2009 12:45 PM EST reply actions

Better inside, definitely

But he’ll never be any good as a pass rusher, which is sad. Unless he’s willing to take reasonable money, I expect we’ll simply go in another direction. Rookie Lawrence Sidbury looks like he’ll be able to fill that pass rushing role down the line.

Yea I like to complain

about Matt Ryan,

When I sit him he gets me 20+ points. When I get start him he gets me 10 or less.
When I start Jay Cutler he gets me 2 points. When I sit him he gets me 20+!!!

Last week it was against the #2 passing defense in the league for Ryan, and he had great numbers! What the?

Yea I know, but come on Jay Cutler has been Stud FF QB.

This year was supposed to be another one, and Matt Ryan has so much talent around him, a lot people had him on thier team.
Any way there isnt any better QB’s anyone is willing to give up.
