Bucs for sale in the future?
This has not been confirmed by the NFL, the Bucs, or the Glazer family, but multiple reports were stating that the Bucs indeed were for sale. This has been refuted by the Glazers with a statement that reads "The report today by WDAE’s Dan Sileo about our family is 100 percent false. The Buccaneers are not, nor have they ever been for sale….The report is baseless, irresponsible and slanderous."
The report today by WDAE’s Dan Sileo about our family is 100 percent false." More Glazer: "The Buccaneers are not, nor have they ever been for sale….The report is baseless, irresponsible and slanderous."
To update: This has been denied by the Bucs and the Commish. The franchise is not for sale now, but could be a possibility down the road.

Maybe...
Joe Redner would be interested. I keed I keed, but the Glazer’s would be doing us a favor to sell. You can’t toggle Man U and an NFL franchise.
We need an owner with deep pockets
Tampa would be an ideal situation for the right buyer:
- 10 picks in next years draft
- Waaay under the cap
- One of the nicer stadiums in the league
- Young QB
- Rotten head coach that will be easily fired
- Puppet GM that is spineless enough to do anything you say
- Strip clubs nearby
Problem is this wouldn't happen for at least two years.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Shocking....
but I’m not sure why. It’s something would should have seen coming. Even ManU sold off Renaldo because they couldnt afford him.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
hold your horses
I am extremely skeptical about this. The story broke on Twitter via a WTSP reporter, but despite there being multiple reports, they are all based on one thing: “comments” made by a radio host, Dan Sileo, who is most notable for being an idiot.
Until there’s a secondary source (hell, until there’s a primary source) citing actual numbers and facts, this sounds like a lesson in jumping the gun re: Twitter and journalism.

The speculation comes from the note due on the Man U purchase in 2010
If the Glazer’s don’t have the funds to cover the note, the Bucs will most likely be sold. It’s not like the “For Sale” sign is hanging in the window now, but the cards are on the table

Up For Sale for NFL teams
means willing investors and potential buyers need to start getting their stuff in order. It doesn’t mean if someone comes up with the money tomm, ownership is changing hands.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
false go to tampa tribune
joel glazer released a statement tearing into these rumors and the ones spreading them. honestly i live in Montana and dont understand why everyone thinks the glazers aren’t doing the best for our team ? even if there not spending money now, think of 2011 no cap and we have tons of money .. we’d be a power house instantly !!!
Of course they aren't going to justify those rumors.
There is no guarantee they are going to spend money next year. There have been several examples where the Glazers have tried to save every penny.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
It gets depressing...
If we aren’t trying to build a serious contender, why don’t we just sign the Orlando Tuskers and call it a day.
It’ll save money and there won’t be any gray areas about what we aren’t trying to accomplish.
Tatum Bell (player for the Tuskers)
thinks they can beat us. We might as well buy them.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Give me your honest opinion...
Checkout the Tusker’s roster…
Do you think we could beat them?
A lot of our ex-players
I thought Dexter Jackson was retired
and Ricky Manning
I always wondered what happened to that guy.
I would also rather have Sauerbrun than Johnson.
Maybe Haslett more than Morris. Ouch. It hurts to say that.
You get what you pay for.
I know Ricky Manning
didn’t play for us. Just realized that I should probably clarify that. There are just a few guys on there I think would be better than our guys.
You get what you pay for.
Yes. We can honestly beat them.
Most are players who didn’t succeed in the NFL even in bad organizations.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
Their coach Jim Haslett said the same thing
But then again, he’s Jim Haslett and his track record speaks for itself.
I just hope if the team is sold
that it isn’t moved. We can speculate all we want but all we really have to go off of is what Glazer tells us. It stinks.
You get what you pay for.
They won't move the team
That stadium is too nice to abandon. I think that they’re smart enough to realize that people won’t pay top dollar for tickets to watch a winless team.
Relocation isn't an option.
The league would never allow it for one, and I’m sure that penalty for relocation was for more then 5 years or whatever. I think it was a permanent thing, but I don’t know everything.
Although people aren’t going to the games, they are still sold out, which would prevent any relocation. They make a ton of cash here, because we love our football. This is one of the most profitable teams believe it or not.
The thought of relocation in this instance just seems asinine
No offense Lee, because the atmosphere of pro-sports seems to continuously dangle this threat in order to keep the money coming from markets in which teams are entrenched.
The point is this, though: The lease between Raymond James Stadium and the Buccaneers franchise alone is waaaaaaaaaaaay too sweet and far too profitable to consider relocating the franchise. Even if a potential owner swooped in with plans to bring the team to Los Angeles — LA is not set for an NFL team. If they were, they would have nailed down an expansion club by now. All stadium plans have fallen through and LA seems very much loyal to the college game after the antics of Al “Just Win, Baby” Davis and the Rams former owner who relocated the team from Anaheim to St. Louis.
The point is there are very few markets that can offer a more lucrative deal than what’s in place for the Bucs in Tampa. This isn’t a case of sport-out-of-water-in-it’s-market like the Phoenix Coyotes franchise is labeled in the NHL… Tampa Bay is a great market for the NFL. The market proved that it’ll show up to support even mediocre teams in the past.
Abysmal teams of current? Different story… But that’s a fact in most any market for most any sport: People aren’t going to show up (and grossly overpay at the box office) to support an Ohfer-the-season, hopeless team.

Correct and Rec'd
Not every team that goes up for sale is going to be moved. With all of the talk about moving Jacksonville, Oakland and St. Louis, there is only so many places that can support a football franchise. Tampa has a proven track record of selling tickets, surviving bad teams and a longer history with the community than does Jacksonville or St. Louis.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
I agree with you John
I think that moving the Bucs would be ridiculous as well. I am however scared about the Glazers getting the idea of moving the team to England in their heads. With Goodell in their corner then they could probably be convinced that this a real possibility. The tickets for the Patriots vs. Bucs game sold out in thirty minutes, so the appetite could be considered voracious.
Old Trafford only seats about 11,000 more than RayJay, which would equate to 88,000 more tickets sold per year for sellout seasons. If the Glazers could get a deal to play in Wembley, which seats over 90,000, for every home game, well then we are talking about some real money.
Goodell has said repeatedly he wants a franchise in England. Will a team be moved there or perhaps they will do another expansion. Los Angeles / London. The logistics of schedule making are going to be ridiculous for the London team.
I don’t really think the Bucs should be moved, but the Glazers relationships overseas could give them the leg up on a franchise over there. I think that the perennially poor teams such as Jacksonville and Oakland are much better candidates, but I wouldn’t say that it is entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Before you tell me how full of malarkey I am, let me assure you that I know it. I just have an overactive imagination. Only about 1% of me believes this may happen, but that 1% just won’t shut up.
You get what you pay for.
They hate the Glazers
on the other side of the pond. They’d never support the team, and the NFL wouldn’t allow the team to be moved anyway, they have it too good here.
I personally had never heard the bucs mentioned in rumors
Never a specific team but I did read all the “We love London / We want London” talk.
If there WAS going to be an expansion to Europe, I highly doubt it would be one team in England. I would expect four teams to be awarded — England and Germany being the locations of the teams. Make a European division and I think it eases logistics but it’s still a challenge — because any team still needs to make trips to Europe and Europe to the US on a regular basis.
Regardless — I’d doubt the Bucs relocating to Old Trafford or London…. Or anywhere else. The legal ramnifications alone would be too pricey for the league and the Glazers – it’d be tied up in courts for years in both countries.

Nor do I think England could sustain excitment over a period of time
for an organization. It would be a huge mistake to make an international team anywhere other than Mexico or Canada (for logistics purposes) and really anywhere in general from a marketing standpoint.
"I have come that you may have life, and life to the max"
As much as I like the bucs...
I can’t imagine dropping $170 (ticketmaster prices) to sit with my wife in the nose bleed section for any of their remaining games. If I can score a couple of cheap tickets…then maybe.
I’ll stick to watching them on TV.
Exactly
I had a friend piss on Buc fans two weeks ago for a poor showing at RayJay… Compared the crowd to old crowds she had seen in Buffalo and New England during down years. I couldn’t get i tthrough her head how pricey tickets are for such a bad product.
The thing is, if the team were 3-4? People would still be stretching to pay that price. As ridiculous as it seems to me — they would still be doing it. Even 2-5.

Speaking of dropping money on this team...
Which player’s jersey would you buy? Honestly, I can name at least one player on ANY team in the NFL that is worthy of a jersey purchase….except Tampa.
Ruud? Maybe, but not until his contract situation is cleared up.
Ward? Not for a second string guy.
Winslow? Ok maybe.
Cadillac? It seems like his legs are on borrowed time.
Barber? I guess.
Its been said that now that both bombs have gone off Caddy could be fine
But I own his jersey anyways, and I’d also get a Jackson, Hayes, Ruud, Ward, or Winslow jersey. Miller as well if he gets the start next year and maybe Bryant if he gets back in gear and we long term him.
I wouldn't.
Caddy hasn’t played enough (with thanks to injury) to really be a face of the franchise in my eyes. No one on defense does it… everyone’s middling…
I was hoping Sabby would develop… he still may, but in this system it doesn’t give him a chance to shine like Monte’s Tampa-2.
Most of the guys are middling. I’m not going to put money down on a player who doesn’t excite me or make me proud… Buy a jersey? Sure. Blank though.

Lowest overall payroll in the NFL the last 4 years
And much of the existing cap space that the Bucs have “used” is money earmarked for rediculous performance clauses in contracts that no long exist. Go look at Noah Herron’s contract and you’ll see what I mean. Please let this be true. I’ll write Mark Cuban a “wishing you were here” letter every day.
You nailed it
Seriously, look up this Herron’s contract.
Dan Sileo is in serious trouble and has gotten WDAE and Clear Channel in deep with this rediculous lie.
If you listened to the Big Dog, He looked up the information and the Glazers were not on the list at all. He took the time to look up each letter in the alphabet.
Now I dont know all the details about this situation, but I know one thing…almost always, when a team goes up for sale…its a surprise. So when there is a warning? Its false.
…and to those who wish for the Glazers to sell the team because you think they are cheap…. Be careful what you wish for.
I wished the same for Hugh Culverhouse…and we came very close to losing the Bucs.
If anyone can get production out of Gaines Adams, it will be Rod Marinelli. Good Luck Gaines and thank you Bucs for restoring my confidence that there is accountability.
I'm starting a collection . . .
. . . to buy the Buccaneers. All I need is about 45 million people to toss in 20 bucks. Please mail your contribution to Paul Mueller, 10400 110th St. Largo, FL 33778. Thanks for your support!
