Dwight Freeney is the highest paid defensive player ins the history of the N.F.L.

"Freeney agreed Friday to a 6-year, $72 million contract with the Colts that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history. The deal includes a $30 million signing bonus, second in Colts history only to the $34.5 million owner Jim Irsay gave quarterback Peyton Manning as part of his seven-year, $98 million contract in 2003."

"On a judge's orders, U.S. marshals last week took custody of the 53 dogs that local authorities seized from Vick's property in April. Many of those dogs, court records say, had scars or injuries that appeared to come from organized fights."
